Indiana University has a field next to the student union (Dunn Meadow) where long-term protests have been allowed for decades. There was a big one during Vietnam, there was a semi-permanent shantytown there during apartheid and I was cooking and doing odd jobs in the protest camp during the 1991 Gulf War while still in middle school.
The day before the anti-Israel protest started, they changed the rules not allowing 24/7 protests. A bunch of students got arrested.
