Louisiana and Alabama and Mississippi are all places where I would take my life if I knew I was going to prison.

I hear so many good things about New Orleans, but I don’t know if I ever actually want to go to Louisiana even though I don’t think I’d end up in prison there. I don’t want to give them tax dollars.

New Orleans is a place best visited once or twice when you are young. It is not a clean, safe place by any measure.

And being infested with conservatism makes it even less enjoyable in person in my opinion. The music and food are wonderful, but they can be enjoyed without the misery of being in Louisiana.

I’m not interested in going there to party in the French Quarter. I’m interested in things like the cemetery tours and the jazz museum. New Orleans has a pretty amazing history and I’d love to see it close up. Just to be in the place where Louis Armstrong came from… it would be like a pilgrimage for me.

But I don’t want my tax money going to their state. It already has to go to Indiana against my wishes.
