Hezbollah has been firing missles at Israel for some time. So Israel responds when it’s necessary. The expansion happened some time ago.

It does in fact. Point is that Hezbollah have launched a couple thousand missles into Israel since the last week of October. But, this isn’t anywhere near a full on attack by Hezbollah. So Israel waits for good opportunities to diminish them. The US also hit targets in Lebanon after the Jordon drone bombng.
