Emails surface from LU's VP of Student Affairs sent the day she died by suicide

A controversial start to the year for Lincoln University President Dr. John Moseley and the Board of Curators after the University’s Vice President of Student Affairs, Dr. Antoinette Bonnie Candia-Bailey, took her own life on January 8. Bailey’s passing has sparked outrage from LU alumni across the country who are now calling for Moseley's resignation.

Instead she handed him what he'll probably think of as a victory, removing herself from his plate as a future problem. I wish people would realize that suicide doesn't win them anything, and only hands a victory to all their enemies and haters. How much more satisfying to live on and leave those kind of people behind and know that, by living well, you're the one who is actually victorious.

I dont want to be mean but this type statements are very reductionist of and inconsiderate towards suicidal/depressed people and how they actually feel and they seem to be used to shame and ridicule people into compliance while ignoring the underlying issue.

As a suicidal and drepressed person, I couldn't care less about a percieved victory over some assholes, I want the pain, sadness, anxiety, apathy, tiredness, that i feel everyday from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep to stop. You telling suicidal people are dumb for choosing suicide instead of simply "living well" (whatever that means) doesnt help. In fact makes things worse because now Im not only a depressed, suicidal fuck up but also dumb. Thanks.
