I understand that can lead to unexploded ordinance however Ukraine is facing a life and death struggle right now and they can use all the ammo that they can get. Of course it's not ideal but US/Europe has very limited supply of precision ammo. And until they can increase production Ukraine needs something to use against dug in Russian positions. Ultimately the decision should be up to Ukrainians since they are the ones that will have to be doing the clean up.
I saw several alleged videos of russian frontline units pledging their support for Prigozhin. Combine that with how little resistance wagner faced and Putin might have realized how weak his position is and given in to replacing MOD staff. Not a good look the same day he declared Prigozhin a traitor and promised punishment.
Trading the long-term stability for the short-term. Because now every aspiring russian warlord know that if you don't like something about the state, all you need is just a big enough private army to bully the kremlin, lol.
I don't know why anyone is taking any of this seriously. For all we know, this was done to lure Ukraine into following them into Russia to fall into a set trap, or theater or withdraw and resupply without looking weak. It is odd that it looks like Putin had weakness, but they can always say that's what it was later and the propaganda will work like it always does.
Do you really think Ukraine has an interest in following them into Russia? If I was them I would just want to take back Ukraine and secure the borders.
Only if you accept Russia's description of where the border is. The border as defined by every other country in the entire world says Ukraine is still in their own territory.
There have been some Ukrainian sympathisers setting off bombs/shooting down aircraft/etc inside Russian territory - but those aren't Ukranian soldiers and they're pretty generally just a few random/nonconsequential attacks and don't show any signs of being linked to any "Operation". The front line of the battlefield is nowhere near the border.
Search engines have been becoming increasingly useless for years at this point as SEO gentrification runs rampant and more content moves behind walled gardens like Discord and anything that requires a subscription. Not to mention that Google enshittifies just like everything else. The amount of overly verbose garbage I have to trek through just to not get an answer to my query is far too high. God fucking help us now that AI can generate content, which will be even more garbage to sift through.
You know, that was a good article until the author took a completely unnecessary and irrelevant swipe at Biden; at which point I completely lost interest in anything the author had to say.
I'm really fucking tired of political bullshit being embedded into every-goddamned-thing I read.
Thank goodness someone is here to defend the reactionary fuck who was literally creating a Disinformation Governance Board as part of the ever-expanding police state and its fascist DHS organization. /s
Oh boo hoo. I would have bitched if it was a completely-out-of-place swipe at any politician, even ones I hate. I would have bitched just as much if it was an anti-trump joke. It was irrelevant and obnoxious, shitty, opportunistic writing.
I don’t give fuck one about Biden, but I do give fuck one about journalistic integrity, which the author seems to lack.
Some have suggested that the lack of Google alumni on the transition team of president-elect Joe Biden, a noted sex pest, might bode well for a crackdown, though the presence of veterans from other tech giants like Amazon and Uber suggests otherwise
a completely-out-of-place swipe
Ah. I see you think that reminders that the man in the most powerful position in the world is an actual fucking rapist are totally irrelevant...while that guy is currently helping to dictate what people may and may not see on the Internet. What could go wrong with a rapist deciding to further marginalize rape victims by making them even more invisible?
Well, we know that the Jan 6th "protesters" are getting 6 months, or maybe a year. The longest I've seen was 18 years to stupid ass Stuart Rhodes. How is what this woman did 9 years worth of time worse?
What’s happening in Finland that they turned to the right wing to solve their problems? Here in Australia we’ve recently swept right wing governments at the federal and state level, they were not nearly as extreme, just your garden variety corrupt, climate-denying boomers mismanaging our country to mediocrity.
"Poor abstract reasoning skills" is probably the most sensitive way I can put it. We're a fairly conservative country at the best of times.
We had a leftist government for the first time in over a decade, and they started right before COVID hit. They handled things OK, but we had a government full of young female ministers and that did not sit right with conservatives. All of the right wing parties and their supporters started lying about eg. employment going down due to government mismanagement (it actually went up despite COVID), the PM using drugs (she wasn't), that the government is taking on too much debt (they weren't, at last in comparison to the other Nordics or central Europe), etc etc. Crises tend to draw people to authoritarianism, and here especially the extreme right wing party is now the second most popular right after the "fiscal conservatives".
But we have the government we deserve. If people are so unfathomably stupid as to want austerity and Nazi ministers, we don't deserve anything better
This fucker did so much damage here, y'all have no idea, and that's not even a fraction of what he deserves, but it's great news. Last year's election day was a nightmare, we barely made it.(having everything counted and announced day of is fun and zappy, but nerve-wracking)
She said many rich people wanted to set up their own educational or health foundations without checking whether there was a need or an existing charity or government-funded programme working to address the issue.
When the rich only think about charity as a means to further their own name, it’s no wonder nothing ever really gets fixed.
If she actually gets convicted of that, it might be another one of these events that seems insignificant on it‘s own, but could have repercussions in hindsight.
Similar to those two self-immolations in the US due to climate change, the loss of these people stuck with me and we‘re not even in the same continent. I can‘t imagine how the relatives and friends feel.
There is a lot of climate anxiety and fear around, and these sorts of repressive actions, or even the inactions following desperate moves, serve to strengthen these feelings.
Wish the best for this woman, some people say or think things like "old people (boomers) don’t care" etc. and I admit I did too, but she proved it wrong, the climate concerns everyone.
I’m terrified of what crews will have to go through to mitigate and clean up what will clearly become a massive sunlight leak after this. Do we know how this will impact local groundwater?
To be fair solar cells are not made of sunshine (ha) and daysies. Glass plastic and aluminum should not be left rotting. But of course you are right there will be next to no impact beside some garbage on some field
