But then why does Wikidata call it a human settlement?

Real answer is it probably derives from USGS language

Populated Place

Place or area with clustered or scattered buildings and a permanent human population (city, settlement, town, village).

Etterra ,

You’ve never been to Kentucky, have you? “Subhuman” is a generous description of an appalling number of them.

GhostTheToast ,

Live here. Very accurate at times

Knuk ,

That kind of language has landed humanity in really bad places before. I get it’s a joke but it’s not one we should make in my opinion.

PyroNeurosis ,

In contrast to West Virginia, a dwarven region known for laying mountains low.

dan1101 ,

Human settlement, for normal everyday humans.

SendMePhotos ,

I mean… It does have humans, right?

Doxin ,
Schmoo ,

I’m from Kentucky and I feel pretty alien most of the time. Would not be surprised to find out my ancestors came here in a flying saucer instead of a covered wagon.

militaryintelligence ,

Hello fellow human. Enjoying our normal human settlements?

sundray ,

Kentucky is almost entirely occupied by Kobolds now. Some one brought a pair home from the Realms, and you know how that goes. They’re cute as pups, but before you know it they’re raiding your villages and occupying your ancient tombs.

Gnome posters rise up

toynbee ,

Gnome hasn’t been good for years. I’ll post from Cinnamon or XFCE.

Rai ,

In Japan, kobolds are dogs!

omega_x3 ,

Clermont known for Jim Bean and…a human settlement apparently.

I was trying to figure out where it was because I heard about this place, which sounded pretty cool, especially the art stuff. But it’s kind of far for me for a day trip (over 3.5 hours), so I probably won’t be going any time soon.

bernheim.org

Ageroth ,

I used to live about an hour away, bernheim is actually one of the nicer forests that I’ve hiked around they have lots of beautiful trails and wooded areas

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I want to go, but we would have to find someone to take care of our dogs since it wouldn’t be a day trip, so it will require some planning.

cm0002 ,

That’s where the irl Murfree Brood is, they’re technically human so Google is just calling it as it sees it

reallykindasorta ,

Sounds like aliens settled everywhere else to me—that’s the last human settlement

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

The last humans are trapped in Kentucky? They might as well surrender.

southsamurai ,

If you have to ask this, you’ve never been to Kentucky

FlyingSquid OP ,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve been, but everyone looked essentially hominid to me. Maybe on the weird end of the hominid scale, but…

southsamurai ,
@southsamurai@sh.itjust.works avatar

This is true, but Patrick from sponge Bob looked vaguely hominid too, and likely is smarter than most humans in Kentucky (see what I did there Donald? Patrick is smarter than you, and we both know it).

Donald is one of my cousins from Kentucky that is absolutely hominid looking, but is so far from being human that even aliens can’t imitate him successfully. We’re reasonably certain that he is some kind of hybrid life form based on a rock and a mange ridden monkey. There is some debate as to him having a ricke for a brain, or if his head is just empty, but it’s certain that he smells like a monkey.

XOXOX ,

Not aliens, bourbon barrels. Bourbon barrels outnumber people in this part of the world.

SpaceNoodle ,

Especially in the “dry” counties

grue ,
Imgonnatrythis ,

“did aliens settle in Kentucky?” This would explain a lot.
