I hate stuff like this, that thinks it’s being “cute”, or “cool”, or “clever”, or whatever as if the company and I have some sort of personal relationship and could just interact on this level. No, Ridiculous Company, you and I do not have any kind of relationship - and now we never will even try again for one, any time in the future. In fact, from now on every time I see your logo, I will remember your “cleverness” and imagine a room full of imposter marketers and imposter developers sitting in a plastic building full of foosball tables and needlessly-big vertical monitors being “clever” for each other while their stock goes further and further down the toilet.
I always check price/weight, and its increase has been ridiculous. For ones that don’t increase price also taste different, sadly. The best way to detect real value vs. price is look into nutrition tables but I don’t have the all database memorized lol so they’ll get away with it. :/
It isn’t enshitification in the sense of trying to make the platform make money, but it is throwing up new roadblocks in the way of using the platform. It makes it harder to just show up, register, and post code. It creates multiple tiers of users who have different privileges on the platform. And from here it would be easier to move to, with some of the same justifications, some sort of requirement to pay for code hosting.
This sucks, I remember a year or two ago, windows 10 was pushing similar things. My only question is what happens when you don’t have internet?(worst case scenario.) I had windows 10 when I was in college, but as soon I finished, I did install fedora as dual boot, and since then I proudly use fedora every day, switched to windows only 1-2 in total.
The most common problem I had was program and app availability. Could I do what I do every day with Windows? The answer was yes. Install and try even if its dual boot, slowly slowly you will get used to it.
If you don’t have internet, you’re never getting updates in the first place! Unless you mean, you updated, are sitting at this screen, THEN lose your network connection.
