Got suckered into helping a non-profit with their web presence, and of course, it was a Wordpress site (at least it wasn’t a Facebook page)....

Seriously launched the app (by accident today) and what is this? They’re trying to play the victim from the big bad ad blockers saying all they’re doing is trying to show an ad at the beginning of video, and then I see all of this crap....

For real. I can never understand why some of ye don’t have a cool pfp. You could even get some cool background art on your profile as well. Really jazz it up, ya know. But I swear 90% instead opt for the default lemmy logo. How uncreative and boring. I can’t even tell most of you people apart.

I pay all my bills online so I’m used to navigating logins and payment apps. I never have nearly as much trouble paying credit card bills....

these guys used to be daring adventurers with goggles and swag and now the pilots have to wear a button down and the airlines squeeze every penny out of you and every drop of fun or joy or magic or adventure out of the experience....

I already have the desktop app, what difference should this even make? Pointless gatekeeping by the devs

EDIT: You know, after some time to cool off, Google Authenticator 2FA can still be enabled and isn’t being phased out like the less secure SMS 2FA, so it’s really not the end of the world here. The chance of permanent lockout is avoided, even if the whole Google Prompt system is still wack.

A VPN isn’t going to protect you from malware or trackers. I’m not sure how they can get away with this marketing....

Infuriating to think that all these places can sell products with a 50% discount and still make money. The rest of the time how much are they raking in? But we are all scraping by and gotta do what we gotta do. Thanks for letting me vent.
