While I did enjoy this meme, that’s not going to solve the problem. They would be replaced pretty quickly with people who are equally as dubious. That’s just the system we live in.

People who have good reasoning skills can see it for what it is, so we need to collectively get into the habit of calling out disingenuous manipulation and put a stop to it. Rather than focusing on refuting each specific point, draw attention to the most ridiculous points, refute one or two, then stop engaging entirely because it is self-defeating.
The fact that this man is still given televised platforms after everything is unreal. All that does is give the illusion that there is substance to his manipulation. He needs to be shunned to his echo chamber and the world needs to move on.

That isn’t what gaslighting means. The term refers to a type of psychological abuse involving the denial of a person’s own reality as a means of gaining power and control of a victim. It is not simply suggestion.
the farmer saying he treats the animals like family, which one might imply means he treats them well. but his family has to secretly run away from him due to abuse (insinuated by the wife quickly leaving with the kids). this mean he probably also abuses the animals, which is opposite of the implied meaning.
Pretty sure it’s less about abuse, and more the fact that the animals are slaughtered. He says he treats the animals like family, that implies he will also kill and eat his family at some point…
My mom told me recently that I could go harvest Strawberries from a field and pay for each Kilo I harvest, but while I am harvesting I am allowed to eat as many strawberries as I want. I somehow still feel like this is not legit and there needs to be some sort of miscommunication.
Well, you are essentially paying extra in terms of the time involved, so I suppose it wouldn’t be too surprising that some places might allow you to do things like eat along the way since you can only eat so much in a sitting :)
i’ve read marx. at precisely no point does he say anything justifying the various atrocities state capitalist countries have committed. i think he’s wrong about some stuff, but even if you accept that his word is gospel, tankies are still just people who took leftist principles as an excuse for the imposing the kind of brutal authoritarianism that leftists are supposed to be against.
Always treat your job as a transactional arrangement between you and your employer. You’re not a family, you don’t owe the employer any loyalty. The arrangement is that you have skills the employer desires and they pay you a rate you’re willing to accept for the use of those skills. That’s the deal.
This is a fairly technical meme. Userspace is not the same as user preferences, and in this case refers to application compatibility. Applications written by third party developers (i.e. not the creators of the OS itself) are almost always in userspace and not kernelspace.
Windows and the Linux Kernel devs go to great lengths to ensure that they are backwards compatible, sometimes to a fault. For example, there are certain bugs that are left in place and not fixed because some applications have adapted to the bugs and now rely on that behavior. If the bugs were fixed, suddenly those apps would break and the developers of those apps would need to create an update. That’s complicated or even impossible if the app developer has been out of business since the 90s/dies/is locked up in legal limbo/etc.
You can still run games and other software from the 90s on Windows 11, but there is software from the 2010s that won’t run on the latest version of macOS because Apple doesn’t give a fuck about maintaining backwards compatibility (breaking userspace).
