CosmoNova , in Something something The Juniper Tree

german version

You mean original.

KaleDaddy ,

Not really. Usually its just the Grimm version. There’s no such thing as an “original” version to a folk tale. Or i suppose once there was but it was gone the second it was retold. That’s the nature of oral tradition. There were countless retellings of the various fairy tales with different endings than the ones The Grimm Brothers went with in their books.

rockyrikoko ,

Well the stories wouldn’t be as grim if they hadn’t

Lesson for parents, cats aren’t good for parenting.

Pro tip: when you hire a babysitter, make sure they are not a cat.

Yes her fault, why did she play with the fire though?? German fairytales are just realistic 👍

EmoDuck ,

Her first mistake was being a child in a german folktale

‘atsuh thang buddy. Eez pigs is fer eatin’. Ay ain’t pets. Just food goin’ tuh food.

Honestly though. I doubt there’s a single part of the meat industry that wouldn’t hurt our feelings or horrify us. It is not an industry of kindness.

I get why people choose to be vegetarians and vegans.

Israel is an apartheid state and fuck that shit. Instead of “Mowing the Lawn” (aka committing genocide by pushing Palestinians out of their homeland) and bombing schools and refugee camps, maybe try socialist policies that lift everyone up. Fuck fascism and fuck racism.

I realize there’s important nuances I’m overlooking, but I watch enough Democracy Now to know that tiptoeing around or staying silent just gives room for Israel fascists to spread lies based on their feelings, not the truth. This shit’s depressing but fuckin important.

And don’t take my word for it, check my sources!

Dagwood222 , in coziness is all I’ve ever wanted

Always keep this simple fact in mind.

In 1960, minimum wage was $1.00/hour and the average US home was $11,000.00. $1 million was a vast fortune.

When ronald Reagan took office, ‘middle class’ was still defined as one job supporting a family of four.

By the time George HW Bush had finished his term, middle class was two jobs to keep the family going. And $1 million was what a rich guy paid for a party.

One thing I like about Winnie, the Pooh is how they treated Eeyore. Even though he was effectively chronically depressed, his friends still invited him to their adventures. They didn’t expect him to pretend to feel happy or give him a hard time about it. I think there’s a positive message there.

Cosmonauticus ,

That’s probably because they all suffer from mental illnesses
