Sometimes I think about things like this when it comes to cheese and fermented stuff. Like, who was the first guy to work out that you can get rotten food and either get high off it or get tasty stuff out of them?
if a mushroom is covered in bugs it’s probably edible. centipedes, fungus gnats, and slugs are all common on my outdoor beds.
there are a few edible fungi i don’t see bugs eat, like meatier varieties such as shiitake and saddle backs, but i have never seen bugs go after poisonous fungi
some bugs will eat psychedelic fungi just like some animals will. but there tends to be less predation with them.
I read somewhere this is how humans most likely learned what is good and bad to eat. Just need to see something else eating it and it’s most likely good.

The monkeys were given the ability to self administer cannabis whenever they wanted. All they had to do was to pull on a lever. When the monkeys were given low doses of a substance similar to caffeine, they seemed less likely to reach for the THC. But, when they received high doses of caffeine, they seemed to reach for that lever more often.
Then in 2018, a study led by Marilyn Cornelis at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine seemed to back up these findings. This time, the study examined the effects of mixing cannabis and coffee on humans. It found that the more caffeine people consumed, the less cannabis their body was able to metabolize. So, although small amounts of caffeine can help your THC go a long way – too much caffeine can lessen its effects.

Actually, now that I think about it, has there even been a piece of media showing a utopia as capitalist? All the genuine utopias I can think of are usually at least socialist leaning. I say genuine cause there’s also a huge number of works about “utopias” where the whole plot is about how the society isn’t actually a utopia.
