This is why I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. I’d rather look naive than make uptight assumptions. Plus, I’m a reddit refugee, and I’ve HAD IT with pedants and the rampant holier-than-thou crap.
I use YouTube the most of all streaming services. Yet I don’t understand why there isn’t an affordable easy to use option, that includes no ads and a high CPM for creators.
My understanding is YouTube premium, doesn’t highten the payout to creators, but rather just substitutes the dirt poor ad revenue per impression.
It actually does get higher revenue for content creators for the majority of your creators. Average per view is something like 5-10x vs non premium views.
It’s based around your watch time and something like 50%? of your subscription split across the channels you watch.
Everytime I see someone I know using chrome and getting an ad (because most adblockers in chrome are useless), I try to nudge them to the furry browser
TIL there are no capitalist people who can read, as reading leads into communism or something idk if I could read I’d probably try to find the meme in this
Well, capitalists(people who own the means of production) who can read generally continue to support the system that benefits them.
And they’re able to pay so proles mostly only read ideas that are supportive of capitalism.
But that isnt the point of the meme, the joke is that this guy thinks illiteracy is the best defense against communism, when the best defense is making communism into a boogeyman so literate people won’t read their ideas.

I think communists are the joke in this, as they are the joke in many things. Many people have read communist theory, it’s just trash theory, literate or not really.

Cool, so what theory have you read then? I’m guessing you’ve read the basics if you are so confident that they are trash. Or are you too scared of the boogeyman of communism to be exposed to its ideas?
I read at least the first two das kapitals in my upper secondary years (maybe the third too but can’t recall tbh). Reckon that’d be pretty basic introductory baby’s first taste of trash political ideologies.
Imma level down with you, I have no fucking recollection it was almost 20 years ago. I am leftist, and have been, but after reading through that I came to the conclusion that I am not a fucking looney and started living a life of a normal person.
Yep. But to be fair, most theories get thrown in the bin after multiple failed trials. Fascism was tried at a couple places but after Oppenheiming and explaining to certain Austrian painter how and why that theory is trash, it’s stayed at it’s rightful place as a fringe ideology for attention seekers and lunatics. Why communism is still a valid theory after multiple failed irl trials and genocides inherently linked to the theory, is beyond me. But I view communism as more of a cult than a real political ideology anyway.
There are 0 commie nations that aren’t miserable shitholes. History knows no commie nation that wasn’t a miserable shithole. The ones that have at least some post-60s technologies are the ones that used capitalist markets to get hold of them.
Personally I’m doing well in my nordic welfare state, bang on capitalism with literally 0 downsides. I honestly don’t really care what some slightly obese guy who doesn’t know how to groom himself thinks about the theory of it, shit works in practice and that’s what I care about. Also NATO is fucking awesome, guns and shit, it’s cool.
I bet the people starving in Cuba would love a hypersonic meme, or some other wunderwaffe that’ll surely make the evil americans bend their knee.
And then we have a commie whose argument against reality is - let’s see - violence. How surprising, I’ve never seen this turn of events from commies before in history. Truly a first, not foreseen by the extensive research into theory (instead of reality).
Cubans are going through tough times because the largest empire in the world has sieged them for 60 years. And they still have higher literacy than that empire.
Faschism is self-eating in it’s nature, but it is still a tool of those who hope they’d die before it fails. We haven’t got rid of it. It is practiced as we speak.
Communism had little chances to be proven wrong or right. In the end, communist rhetoric is one thing, communist praxis is another. And the latter was rarely even practiced, although proclaimed like it was. I believe it gets some points right and needs to be experimented with.
For sure, but it’s also not nearly as prevalent as it was less than hundred years ago, and that’s good. Societies tried it out (voluntarily too) and later discovered it was a mistake. You know, reality lets you know how well it fairs. Communism too was tried out and every time has failed after naturally turning into autocracy, as it does - inherently - as a built-in mechanic included in communism.
There is a reason liberalism was the only major ideology to survive to 2000’s, it was tried out and it works in reality. Not without it’s flaws, you can blame US for a lot of things and pin them on capitalism, while willfully ignoring how every flaw you pointed out is fixed by social democracy, not socialism that supposedly morphs into communism (which again, it doesn’t and never will, it’s always autocracy and fascism-lite as seen with reality).
Doesn’t matter, I can only have two, maybe three jobs at once so any more than that is irrelevant to me
higher growth
I get the same $8/hr whether the GDP goes up, stays the same or goes down. You can’t leave workers out of the distribution of wealth and then pretend that more wealth is good for workers
I don’t understand how the hell people even work jobs that don’t make minimum of $30/hour at least in California and even parts of the East Coast. Like your rent is $1600-$2200. At 0.8*3200 for $ 20/hour with taxes your take home is $2560 for a 40 hour work week. So what are you just not eating that month?
How about healthcare transportation medical 401K literally anything? Pruning of benefits didn’t happen because of corporate greed it happened because people just accepted what they were offered. In the Midwest where apartments might be closer to $700-$900 a month some of this works but on the coasts rent is usually twice that. And a car to get most places is $400 a month with insurance supposing you have the credit.
I work in IT and programming, and Id love to do physical labor and talk to real humans rather than salamanders in silicon valley. But the jobs I see don’t even break $30 an hour. Yet it costed me $27 for ham and cheese and altoids, not even including bread where I live in the bay area. It is fucking expensive.
I feel like America is doing so many things ass backwards greed first. But it’s not like I have the experience of living overseas or in Canada or otherwise so I don’t have much to compare it to, so it’s safer by default to live with the devil you know than the one you don’t.
What people do is pile into apartments. Yeah, to live alone may cost let’s say $2000/month rent. But you can pile 4+ people into a four bedroom apartment that costs $5000, split it four (or more) ways, and they’re paying $1250/month. Some of them have significant others, so then you wind up with two people in one room each paying $625/month. (Just random numbers, but that’s the general idea of it.)
The people I know who do it hate it, but it’s what they can afford while staying in the area they like (and/or were born in, have a community in, etc.).
Christ 250g of deli hame for $27? So probably about 22-25€?
That’s probably a ½-¼ more expensive than good ham from a local italian shop in Germany…Good god.
