Edit2: Writing this from Pop_Os! I had experience with Mint for my Self hosting rig and wanted to see other pastures. Decided to rearrange my three drives, two of them are still Windows, another I emptied and dedicated to Pop OS. That way I still have easy fallback to Windows if I need to do something fast and then I’ll know...
Basically the title. Loving PopOS as my daily, but I understand that PopOS uses their own process and makes sure that only a checked driver gets wide release. Great for stability, less great for playing games that just came out. Is there a distro that this community generally recommends for gaming?
I’ve installed Manjaro with KDE Plasma, most recent bundle(1week ago) from the Manjaro website. Been playing Path of Exile which runs great, but I’ve installed The Division 2, and there a flickering that make my eyes want off themselves. I’m running the open-source video-Linux 2018.05.04. Would it be better to switch to...
Using my touchpad seems to act as if it’s a joystick - If I touch the edges it acts like I’ve pulled the joystick to the far edge of its movement, etc. sort of like how a steam controller’s touchpads work when emulating a joystick. However, it also just acts like regular mouse input so it’s only noticeable in games that...
I moved to Linux Mint fairly recently but still dual boot for a couple of programs that require Windows. I avoid Windows when I can but I like to play The Sims 4 and want to play it on Linux so I tried to install it on Steam (I own it on EA but it’s free on Steam right now and I haven’t been able to get Bottles to run the EA...
Has anyone managed to get SFSE working with Starfield? Ive looked it up and it seems straight forward (relatively) But my game just crashes when I use SFSE both with continuing my game and also creating a new game. This is even with no SFSE mods installed. So simply using SFSE to launch the game.
Has anyone got BO4 running reasonably well? I can get it running and join games easy enough, but there’s sever graphical issues, all the textures blend together when moving the mouse....
So I swapped over to Pop!_os a couple of weeks ago, having never used Linux in my life. Honestly I blame Lemmy, but I am good with it. It has been a fantastic change....
Hi, I would like to now if there is any closed source nvidia driver (the better one for gaming) for Nvidia Quadro FX1800. I wanted to show my brother some of linuxon my old laptop and I don’t want to make him bugged off by lack of gaming on it.
Anyone can help me? I wasn’t able to find any solution for this. The controller works via USB-C just fine but I only have a very short cable, I borrowed the controller from a friend to try it and don’t have the original cable but I was intending to play via Bluetooth anyways....
The game launcher starts but when I click on play, whole screen goes black and nothing happens. System becomes unresponsive and I need to hard reset it.
Dual-booting Windows 11 and Fedora 38. Gaming on Win 11 is, as expected, most times great. I want to migrate to Fedora and use it as a daily driver, and while it does a damn good job at doing just that, it’s disturbingly aweful at gaming. I’ve installed Steam and I set out to try a couple of games to see what it would...
When trying to install games on an ext4 external drive I get a disk write error from steam. Whenever I reset the permissions on the drive to both read and write, not just read, steam immediately reverts that whenever it’s opened.
I am currently running GTA V from Heroic with Proton GE Latest. I have Fsync, Esync and Gamemode enabled. When it runs on windows, GTA V gets around 115 FPS and GTA O gets around 60-70 whilst on Linux GTA V gets around 80 FPS and GTA O gets a mere 30 FPS....
