Edit- I set the machine to work last night testing memtester and badblocks (read only) both tests came back clean, so I assumed I was in the clear. Today, wanting to be extra sure, i ran a read-write badblocks test and watched dmesg while it worked. I got the same errors, this time on ata3.00. Given that the memory test came...

Not everything actually requires a GUI, obviously. But anything that requires configuration, especially for controlling a hardware device, should have a fully functional GUI. I know Linux is all about being in control, and users should not be afraid to use the command line, but if you have to learn another bespoke command syntax...

I’ve always been a fan of extremely small Linux installs. Back when I first started using computers, I didn’t have access to great hardware. [EDIT]: Audacious does this, but Audacious doesn’t view the file as a playlist rather as one file, I wish this could be changed, I don’t know it might be. [\EDIT]...
Currently, my desktop computer has two storage devices attached: one 1TB NVME SSD, which has both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 21.2 installed on it (Each OS getting ~ 500 GB), and a 1TB SATA hard drive mostly used for Timeshift backups of the Linux Mint partition (Including my Home folder, for the record)....
This should be the last monthly update before OS 7.1 and it’s a good one! We have new releases of our office productivity apps, including several new features in Mail, a much more personal Login & Lock Screen experience with improved accessibility, and a couple of large redesigns in System Settings. Plus, for our developers we...
For those systemd users, it seems not as a big of a deal as “the register” poster might imply. In the end it’ll depend if the new soft reboot is called or not (it’s doubtful distros will change default behavior either).
