I want the easiest to configure/theme wm and one that comes with sane defaults. Also I currently use cinnamon, and I’m not sure how to escape from that(everything in it is just so nice) but I want the speed of a wm
It’s really annoying, and I would be fine with constantly killing it, but stopping it from spawning would be best. The process is named cinnamon-close-dialogue
I’ve been using i3wm for long enough that i now can’t go back to a user interface that requires me to use a mouse to get stuff done. However, I’m setting up an old laptop that will be used by both me and my SO for mainly media purposes, but also as my general-use computer for basic tasks. He has been using windows since...
I feel like there is no web browser with a sane default configuration that I can recommend to other people. All browsers are preconfigured in a way that harms the privacy of their users or include services that no one wants such as Pocket and BAT....
I’ve spent the last year learning Linux and coding, I had used windows for years and only used Ubuntu 12 for very short stints, and as for coding i was clueless, now ive a basic understanding but im getting there. Anyway thank you to all the maintainers, devs and community
But this picture of an empty desktop was far too long in the making. it took me a week to succesfully install Arch. I could do the process start to finish, blindfolded, at this point....
I have a GeForce 210 GPU on an EndeavourOS computer. I use Noveau drivers, but some apps like Blender have a broken user interface, and KDE acts weird sometimes. I tried installing the proprietary NVIDIA drivers following the Archlinux wiki, but I did not have any display output at all. I also tried running the NVIDIA driver...
Hey all! I recently installed CachyOS which comes with linux-cachyos-bore as the default kernel, and I have to say that it does feel a lot snappier to just use and click around, even though I have almost the exact same Plasma setup as my previous Arch install. So now I’m wondering how many great patches and forks I’m missing...
So I am an aesthetics guy when it comes to my distro and desktop environment. I like things to look clean and visually appealing. Last night I kinda took a deep dive into the world of different DE’s. Of course there’s the popular ones that everybody knows about i.e. Cinnamon, Xfce, KDE, Mate, Gnome, etc., however there’s a...
Hello, everybody! I want to have a little mini-PC for gaming that operates like a console. I don’t want to have a big, clunky case in the back or front of the TV. Furthermore, I don’t play many AAA titles from recent years, so the hardware doesn’t need to be high-end. It would be nice if I could run Scarlet Nexus, Nier:...
Hi, Im searching for a secure distro for normal daily use for my laptop. Currently Im running arch linux with full disk encryption, secure boot, linux hardened, firewalld and most apps as flatpaks (with some disabled permissions using flatseal). I think its pretty secure laptop but it could be more secure....
I get a lot of visual artifacts when first opening Chromium on Pop!_OS with a 12th gen intel Framework laptop. Relatedly, odd black outlines will appear around different elements around the OS occasionally. I believe I’m on the most recent drivers and such, is there some other configuration necessary to fix this bit of cruft?
I have just seen that StrongSwan is installed and the service is enabled on my Raspberry Pi. But I have never used Strongswan before. Is there any way to research when it was installed? I just use the Raspi for OMV 5 with Portainer and various Docker containers. Should I be concerned that the package is installed without my...
