Migrating away from Fedora, looking for advice.
I’m in the market to find a new distro that is similar enough to Fedora that switching won’t be as laborious as I’ve had it before. I keep hearing POP!_os is a good choice but I’m going to as the community what they think is good.
Why did no one mention this to me?
I recently discovered ventoy and it’s so useful. Don’t have to flash isos anymore and can have a whole iso library. So useful.
Windows not booting directly after Dual boot is set up
I just finished setting up dual-boot for Linux Mint and Windows 10, and I noticed that now Windows isn’t booting properly when I start it up directly through the BIOS. I don’t know how important this is, since it does start with no issue through GRUB...

What was your first experience using Linux? How old were you? Stick around or did you go back to windows before eventually circling back to Linux?
I’ll go first, I took my mom’s college textbooks which came with discs for a couple distros and failed to install RHEL before managing to get Fedora Core 4 working. The first desktop environment I used was KDE and despite trying out a few others over the years I always come back to plasma. Due to being like 12, I wanted to...
Has anyone used or contributed to OpenStreetMap?
I’ve tried using it over the years but I never liked it because there was no information. So last night I looked at my local city and there is almost no information at all. I spent a few hours last night adding buildings and restaurants and removing incorrect items. It was actually kind of fun and therapeutic and I plan to do...

Can someone explain to me the difference between "community-driven" and "corporate-driven" distributions and its implications?
A lot of debate today about “community” vs “corporate”-driven distributions. I (think I) understand the basic difference between the two, but what confuses me is when I read, for example:...

KDE e.V. COMMUNITY REPORT (ev.kde.org)
Which lightweight Linux Distribution with GUI would you recommend for an old Laptop ?
I have an old Subnotebook (at least 10 years old I think) which runs Windows 7 atm. I would like to run Linux on it. I‘m a Linux noob, but would like to try and learn a few things. Any recommendations?
Is my project useful?
Hi, I am currently working on project that I’m calling Installies. It is a tool for Linux that makes it easy to find and use bash scripts to install, remove, update, or compile apps. You can add specific scripts for different distros or architectures....
Which M.2 SSD for Linux?
In the past, several SSD manufacturers had bugs in their firmwares. So to be sure that I can fix such issues with a newly bought SSD, I need some secure (and somewhat easy) way of updating the firmware....
Linux taught me self-confidence
I have never considered myself to be tech-savvy. However, there is a running gag in my immediate family where I claim to be terrible with computers (eg. “I dont think i could find that, my google-fu is weak”) which my family responds to by reminding me of that one time I did that one cool thing (eg. reminding me about I...
Solidworks and other industry-class CAD software on linux
I am about to go to college for engineering and they require a Windows laptop because of the software we will be using (mostly solidworks I’m pretty sure) doesn’t work on other operating systems. I primarily use windows day-to-day for gaming and such anyways so it’s not a problem for me but I’m wondering if anyone had...
VM solution with "seamless" features
I’m currently using a VM to run Visual Studio on Fedora. Because I want easy access to both systems at once, without having to minimise a VM or use hotkeys to access the host system, I require a VM solution that has “seamless” integration - I.E hiding the virtual desktop, and running applications in the VM as though they...
