I use this and then for each 2 weeks rsync to my cold storage. Some data I also use rclone bisync to backup to cloud, in case I need it so bad, when I’m hitting the road.
I use Gnome and I love it, but I have never used workspaces. Okay that’s not entirely true, I tried about 10 years ago and I found that it actually slowed me down instead of speeding me up. I’m content with a single desktop and multiple monitors.
My very first experience with Linux was in probably 1993 or so. I ran a dial-up BBS with a Usenet feed and a friend UUCP’d me the first few floppies of slackware to try. I don’t remember getting very far but I had used OS/9 earlier on my Coco 3, so the shell was pretty familiar.
For actual work, about a year later I started working for a dial-up ISP and my workstation was a Linux box connected via Serial PPP to a Sun pizzabox.
I’ve used Linux on and off as a Desktop over the years but always maintained at least one server. In my current jobs there is a mix of Linux and FreeBSD servers I run on a Linux based virtualization platform.
Three years completely on Linux, because I botched my dual boot and decided to try without the Windows partition and… never had to install it again! Happy user!
Just create an alias that filters loop devices. I mean, if this is your only problem with snap, you can fix it in a second. But I’m betting you have other problems with it.
I wonder if that could easily be fixed by just filtering the output of df to not show virtual disks (df already has an -l option to only show local disks, so would expect that changing df could be relatively easy).
I think they basically said when it was ready it’ll be released and not before, which is good. But… I don’t think they can skip too many release cycles with out releasing it. I know pop is getting regular updates but eventually I’d think they would still run into issues using the 22.04 base.
My dad got me a Raspberry Pi for my 10th birthday. I used Ubuntu Mate 16.04 and was amazed by the customizability. Switched my laptop in 2019, never looked back.
