Just make sure when you search under communities that you choose All, as it often only defaults to Local. All should return any communities that match your search term, across all Lemmy instances.
Don’t. You’d probably be fine with Ubuntu or Fedora since they’re officially supported by Brother, but if you want to use something different, preper to struggle… a lot
I tried to set up the DCP-7055W on Arch before just giving up and using my phone
Wow. Thanks. Didn’t knew that. I tried for hours but could only find a manual installation guide for the property drivers that dint work . Will try this out
In my opinion always check the arch wiki if you’re having problems, even if you’re not running Arch, it’s a gobsmackingly good repository of linux knowledge
Well there are/were systems like that, Crunchbang bring the one that pops into my mind most immediately, but there are others. I think they’re the minority though, even something like MX which you might say is just Debian with a nice xfce has the option of not using systemd, pop and mint don’t ship with snaps…so a bit more than just themeing…where to draw the line?
Just taking whatever is easier. If your changes are easily packageable, then it should be a package. Changing systemd is probably not easily packageable. It’s probably possible, but it’s something where its not worth the effort.
Removing snaps? I feel like I’d prefer Mint to package its stuff as a package and leave removing snaps up to the user. But I vaguely remember that mint changes some repos too?
I have a network connected hp officejet. If you want I can check my settings and drivers in CUPS tomorrow so you can compare. It has been working with several computers for quite a long time now and it gets auto discovered by windows and Linux.
I use ink from a 3rd party seller and it’s relatively nag free since it’s pretty old. It warns about non authentic ink, but then works just fine.
I’ve been considering upgrading from my gaming laptop (intel/nvidia) with a secondary monitor to a monstrously specced out Thelio Major with a Ryzen 9 and RX7900. I have more money than time to build, I like the idea of coreboot and supporting system 76 as a company.
I’ve dealt with a slew of multi monitor issues already and my big hope for this new machine (aside from it being a gaming rig with some longevity spec wise) was that most of these display issues would be a thing of the past.
Reading this has me feeling a little crestfallen. Is this what I should expect from newer team red components? I usually run EndeavourOS and would probably install it before even booting Pop! which I’ve used and don’t really care for.
I have never had an issue printing to my HP printer, or the many other HP, Canon, and Brother printers I have used from my Linux device. CUPS handles all of them exceptionally. On the other hand, Windows machines I’ve used need HP Smart for anything HP, and Macs can never correctly print to Canons.
