1. Have you tried something like…

script_2.sh $(script_1.sh)

…and within script_2, it uses $1 to parse whatever is passed as a parameter from the output of script_1?

Findmysec ,

Exactly

I’m always blown away by the number of issues people have. I mean, I get it’s Fedora, but, on my systems nowadays I really don’t have issues anymore. I’ve thought most of these issues have been eradicated. Maybe I’m just lucky, idk.

I have a WordPress site that I’ve been writing deep-dive linux articles on for about 10 years. Its more useful than any certification.

Portfolios showing experience are always more valuable than any sheet of paper.

haui_lemmy , in To Linux admins: What certifications/degrees do you guys have?

Where I live, a lot of smallish companies look for people with experience rather than certificates or degrees. I‘m a hobbyist turned professional and it shows. I cant talk any of the jargon but I handle servers well and I make short work of most small company IT problems. That and the ability to think in business processes works well.

If you click with right button over a PDF, select “open with…” doesn’t it show an option to select default app?

I don’t know cinnamon very well, but I think this is possible

tyrant OP ,

It’s not in there. I assume because it’s a Windows app I’m running in wine?

WalnutLum , in Niche Distro Users: Why?

I use guix because, while it has a small community, the packaging language is one of the easiest I’ve ever used.

Every distro I’ve tried I’ve always run into having to wait on packages or support from someone else. The package transformation scheme like what nixos has is great but Nixlang sucks ass. Being able to do all that in lisp is much preferred.

Plus I like shepherd much more than any of the other process 0’s

LibreOffice Draw can edit PDFs. For just a pdf reader, I use Zathura, though it may not be for you since it’s very keyboard-based so might be confusing to someone coming from Windows. I think Cinnamon must come with a default pdf reader right?

tyrant OP ,

Yeah I can read them fine but for work I need to be able to mark them up and modify them. It has to be powerful with Mark up tools and most importantly I need to be able to dimension things to scale.

OutlierBlue , in Soon to be 4 months exclusively on Linux

I jumped in with both feet this winter. I’d finally had enough of MS’s bullshit and couldn’t bear to use Win11. I built a new system and installed Mint and I’m loving it. I’ve only had very minor issues with the system itself or with gaming on Steam or Heroic.

LavenderDay3544 , in Linux on non-PCs/Laptops

Linux is much more commonly used in embedded systems than Windows for obvious reasons.

Humpf! That is some rookie number! I’ve been exclusively on Linux for more than a decade!

Just kidding, we’re glad to have you here. Welcome to the club!
