I recently switched from Windows 10 to ZorrinOS (after a quick detour to NixOS… OOF) and in the course of setting things up how I like, I ran across some interesting stuff relating to flatpaks and shortcuts. I wanted to get this written to provide a resource for other people who might be switching....

I’ve realized that I need a calendar, and Calcurse seems like a good one, with easy handling of daily schedules (which is my main requirement). Is it possible to export that schedule to a Mint desktop background? That way I could see, at a glance, a graphical representation of my day whenever I boot up my PC....

Two days ago, I did a fresh Arch install, everything went fine, then I changed my mind about my HDD partitioning and reformatted it, and installed Arch again, the install boots okay and all, but NetworkManager was down, when I investigated it, I found out that dbus service fails to start here is what systemctl status dbus...

My grandma just gave me her old MacBook Pro (MacBookPro11,1 A1502) and, after removing a spicy pillow, air dusting everything, and copying off her old photos, I’m ready to do a clean install....

Btw there is skim, a Rust fzf replacement that is in most repos!

So I just installed opensuse KDE for the first time and when I was typing password for my WiFi, instead of connecting me, some window appeared asking for creating encrypted wallet. I don’t need that so I turned it off in the system settings, but then my PC always forgets my WiFi pasword after shutdown. So I turned on and...

Hi al, I just did a fresh install of linux mint and I don’t have any audio on my internal subwoofers. Dell XPS 9500. I made a post about it on the linux mint forums, which contains more info and “progress” but no luck so far....

So the thing with Debian and any Debian based distro like Ubuntu or Linux Mint is there is no big centralized software repo like the AUR. Yes there is the apt repository but if you want something that’s not in there, get ready to read the documentation or follow random guides....
