I personally always have one USB stick with me that has a live usb boot of Fedoraon it, but I just saw the new video from Linus tech tips and thought about extending it a bit....
So my wife has a 10 year old low end notbook. 500Gb of storage (HDD), 2GB of GDR3 RAM, and an intel Celeron Processor N2806. It originally came with Win 8, then she “upgraded” to win 10 and after that it was pretty much unusable. I am talking CPU and Ram about 80-90% in idle, opening a browser got everything down to a crawl....

I recently opted to move from XFCE to KDE Plasma after hearing so many good things about the KDE desktop environment. While I like the desktop interface/experience a lot more on KDE, there is one glaring issue… I can’t remote into it....
Linux noob here. Usually in Windows if I have a 1TB SSD, I make a 250GB partition for Windows and all of its things and I use the rest for a second partition where I install my stuff and store my files....
Alright guys, I’m going to do it. Today I’m ditching Windows and trying to run Linux exclusively as my daily driver....

I’m trying to wrap my head around the pipewire ecosystem. I think it’s great that we’re getting a fully featured audio system with all the upsides of pulseaudio and jack, and none of the downsides (that I know of), plus a bunch of completely new features. However, I can’t help but think it could have used a little more...
Currently running Kali on my laptop as that’s all it was used for. Looking for something more general purpose. Mainly steam for light gaming and being able to install the tools from Kali for stuff like tryhackme. Mostly familiar with Debian, as that’s what Kali is based on, but willing to try something else. Laptop is this...
Hot take incoming. Just some thoughts I’ve been having recently as I experience Linux at work for several years now. To clarify, I mean Linux on the desktop as a consumer. As in, what our lord and savior Richard M. Stallman would call “GNU/Linux”; pick your favorite distro here. I’m leaving out Linux on the server,...
I couldn't find any documentation about this anywhere, but it seems like they do NOT work together...
For my Thinkpad x200s with:...
A quotation circulates on the Internet, attributed to me, but it wasn’t written by me....
Hi. So I’ve been a fish user for a while, but I’ve always gotten frustrated with it not being POSIX compliant. I tried to use zsh with oh-my-zsh to still benefit from fish’s capabilities on zsh, but I had 2 problems with it: it was incredibly slow, and it wasn’t as good. As I recently found out, the plugins can just be...
Thats why i never buy their shit after having one laptop with one of their graphics....
Hey guys, not sure what happened or if I installed something wrong but some of my applications like Firefox (flatpak) and gnome-control-center are just showing as blank when I open them. If I select them from overview, it stays as blank and can’t select anything from it. This issue doesn’t happen on all gnome/flatpak apps....
I’m on arch currently (with an RX 7600 and R5 3600) and its a good experience, but I find myself wanting many of the .deb packages available on Debian, and trawling the AUR makes me nervous...
