Isn't this effectively the same as "ignore the bullies, they'll get bored", cause that doesn't work all that well in real life.

The moral highground only works when your opponents care about being moral.

Far more effective to stoop to their level and thoroughly beat them at it.

newthrowaway20 ,

Don’t stoop to their level. Find someone already on their level and then pay them to run interference.

GreenMario ,

I have IRL experience with this one.

You must choose violence. For only your own sake or you will never respect yourself again.

NewSmileadon ,

As a fascist I must agree. Violence is a natural part of every solution.

Narrrz ,

especially for combating fascism.

NewSmileadon ,

You mean fascism conflicting with other ways of governmental thought? Yes. since I’m a fascist I’m invested in fascism winning. But we will see which governmental system is best fit for the time

MataVatnik ,

Being bullied in school sure changed my perspective with “peaceful solutions” some people deserve violence

greenskye ,

Moral high ground depends on social pressure from uninvolved parties shaming or otherwise negatively affecting the bully. Usually this shaming does not occur, or is otherwise ignored by the bully resulting in no negative outcomes for their bad behavior.

The concept of ‘moral high ground’ is itself ironically better at shaming the victims into allowing the abuse to continue, with uninvolved parties often coming down harder on the victim than the bully.

What kind of person takes more offense to the defense of victims than the original crime? -> criminals

GreenMario ,

Forgiveness was invented by the Church to get their followers to forgive them for raping them and their kids. It’s a bullshit idea that only benefits the oppressors.

Xanthrax ,
@Xanthrax@lemmy.world avatar

“Hey Honey, I forgot to do the dishes. I’m sorry.”

“I forgive you.”

I get what you’re trying to say though. I’d refine that statement.

iHUNTcriminals ,

You don’t need to forgive good people. They already know they are good. Only actual bad people want forgiveness.

Kolanaki ,
@Kolanaki@yiffit.net avatar

Bad people generally don’t give a fuck about wsnting forgiveness, as they generally don’t feel guilty or think they did anything wrong. That’s part of what makes them bad.

newIdentity ,

What makes a bad person a bad person then?

huginn ,

Idk the death penalty seems worse than forgiveness idk

MuhammadJesusGaySex ,

All I’m saying. There are worse things than death. The death penalty only benefits the living relatives and friends of the person or persons murdered. Once the convicted killer is killed. They don’t care anymore. Also, just because you forgive them doesn’t mean you don’t still punish them.

That’s without getting into things like literal cost, or wrongful conviction rates, etc.

huginn ,

Idk I think the death penalty is a worse punishment than forgiveness idk

surewhynotlem ,

That’s just an easy out for the person being killed.

Th4tGuyII ,
@Th4tGuyII@kbin.social avatar

Exactly. It's a punishment alright, but it's an easy way out compared to the suffering one could inflict if they really wanted to

iHUNTcriminals , (edited )

Sounds like some mafia/gang sympathy bullshit. Gangstalking?

You want people to stay quiet for your crime and forgive you?

So eat shit and suffer in agony for your crimes till you can’t take it anymore.
