Theunplannedman , in There's a fungus known as dead man's fingers... because it can literally look like the fingers of a corpse bursting out of the ground.

I had learned about these in the days of yore. Was doing gardening and found a small specimen growing at the base of my tree. Apparently they LOVE rotting wood…whelp

meleethecat , in There's a fungus known as dead man's fingers... because it can literally look like the fingers of a corpse bursting out of the ground.

There is a willow grows aslant a brook, That shows his hoar leaves in the glassy stream. There with fantastic garlands did she come Of crow-flowers, nettles, daisies, and long purples That liberal shepherds give a grosser name, But our cold maids do dead men’s fingers call them

It just wants to touch your rusty spoons.

Ew! Hubert Cumberdale, you taste like soot and poo!

Thanks, I hate it.

Disappointed to find out they’re toxic.

FlyingSquid OP ,

Not all that toxic, though. One mushroom forager website I saw was from a person who said that they used to recommend and enjoy them, but new information about their toxicity came out and they stopped eating them. 🤷‍♂️

Look more like dead lady fingers to me.

BedShitter69 OP , in El Guerrero - La Rebancha

The writing translates to “God is with us who is against us”

teft ,
@teft@lemmy.world avatar

It’s Romans 8:31

“What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

“¿Qué, pues, diremos a esto? Si Dios es por nosotros, ¿quién contra nosotros?

NocturnalMorning , in A chart showing the handful of companies which own the majority of american news outlets

Less interesting, and more terrifying.

ShittyBeatlesFCPres , in A chart showing the handful of companies which own the majority of american news outlets

Having had them as an ISP monopoly, Comcast shouldn’t be allowed to own Comcast until they show they can do that without fucking it up.

They actually made the monopoly part I experienced illegal. I was in a city with multiple providers but Comcast was the “exclusive” provider for my apartment building because they bribed our landlord so they could charge residents more for shittier service. Everyone involved in that deal should be in Gitmo getting kicked in the dick every time they ask for a lawyer.

Also known as Disney’s shopping list.

Yeah, get CPB outta here with all their astroturf for Big Classical Music and awful quiz shows

ReallyActuallyFrankenstein , in A chart showing the handful of companies which own the majority of american news outlets

This is very incomplete. National Amusements, News Corp., Disney, etc own a ton of other companies.

HootinNHollerin , (edited )

News corp owns National Geographic iirc

marine_mustang ,

Disney owns the majority, but the board of directors is evenly split between Disney and National Geographic Society.

Here’s a more comprehensive look. Still, it omits that Amazon owns The Washington Post. As an atheist, I actually look to the Christian Science Monitor for uncompromising reporting.

Socsa , (edited ) in A chart showing the handful of companies which own the majority of american news outlets

Lmao including the nonprofit CPB on a media conglomerate list alongside Comcast and Disney 🤡

protist , (edited )

The CPB doesn’t even own those entities, it only distributes money to them, money that only makes up a portion of their revenue. And the CPB sure as hell doesn’t own “local news” lol. Where’s Sinclair Broadcasting on this chart? Where’s SiriusXM? This clip-art is straight-up misinformation

morphballganon , in A chart showing the handful of companies which own the majority of american news outlets

The fact that there are 3 entities called Fox, and they’re not all owned by the same company, is bizarre.
