Let me know when Destiny 2 runs and I’ll come on over.

Bungie being a bitch as usual

Steam Deck and Destiny 2

Destiny 2 is not supported for play on the Steam Deck or on any system utilizing Steam Play’s Proton unless Windows is installed and running. Players who attempt to launch Destiny 2 on the Steam Deck through SteamOS or Proton will be unable to enter the game and will be returned to their game library after a short time. Players who are not accessing Destiny 2 through Windows and attempt to bypass the SteamOS/Proton incompatibility will be met with a game ban.

the switch was one of my absolute favorites until the steam deck came along. i loved being able to play on my tv normally but then easily pick it up, toss it in my suitcase, and take it on a trip with me.

Kit ,

I’m in the same boat. Steam Deck has been a game changer for me and I’m finally working through my library. It’s great to be able to play on the couch with my SO instead of setting aside dedicated game time on the PC.

The only game I have that doesn’t work properly is Rising Storm 2 Vietnam, due to anticheat not working and it being a multiplayer.

MajorHavoc , (edited ) in It’s official: No Nintendo console has lasted as long as Switch without being replaced

Asshole lawsuits and “day one patches” finally killed my love for the Switch.

I don’t feel good about sending money to Nintendo anymore. And I don’t feel confident that my physical media Switch cartridges will stand the test of time after Nintendo shuts the patch servers down.

But I’ll always appreciate the innovation. I’m not buying games for it anymore, but it’s a fun part of my home game setup.

SomethingBurger ,

My love for the Switch was killed by 60€ ports and half-assed remakes.

sleepybisexual ,

My love for the switch was killed by Nintendo lawsuit bullshit and Mario kart dlc.

That and joycons

DoucheBagMcSwag , in It’s official: No Nintendo console has lasted as long as Switch without being replaced

Switch should have been replaced with Tears of the Kingdom as a dual launch title for the successor and switch

callouscomic , in It’s official: No Nintendo console has lasted as long as Switch without being replaced

The hardware was crap from launch.

smeg , in It’s official: No Nintendo console has lasted as long as Switch without being replaced

Have they launched a replacement for the Virtual Boy yet, eh?

I love my switch, but speaking of replacements I’ve gone through too many replacement joycons.

I guess it’s time to switch to Linux finally.

Simulation6 , in 98% compatibility

A few games listed as gold for me ran fine on the Deck, but I was unable to play them because of unreadable font sizes. Some of these could be tweaked and there is always the magnifying glass tool, but I prefer them on the PC, which is still Windows.

It’s a pitty that popular games like Call of Duty does not provide anticheat support for Linux.

Even worse now that Microsoft bought it.

gamermanh ,

Even worse if what I’ve read is true and it’s basically a flag setting for shit like EAC

Looks like nice additions, especially marking the map automatically now whenever you place a blueprint containing a sign

theangriestbird , in [Factorio] Friday Facts #419 - Display Panel & Inserter pickup fixes

i love sharing direct updates from developers! small bit of feedback: in the future, maybe you could put “[Factorio]” in the post title to make it immediately obvious what the post is about from the timeline? In a Factorio-focused community this would be obvious, but it’s less obvious in this general gaming community.

Unfortunately games are only one part of the problem. I just tried getting some Windows software up and running on my Steam Deck and it was a hours of hassle only to end up not even working anyway.

Is Serato DJ worth investing time into? No, probably not really. Would it have been nice for it to have worked? Yes, that’s sort of the point of computers ability, to be used.

I’m glad so many games are working, so I hope more software support comes along!

Vodulas ,

It is probably a sticking point, but there are alternative options for a lot of windows software. For your case mixxx.org would be an option.

averyminya ,

Thank you! I’ll check this out, I did “come across” it but I couldn’t tell if it was just for Linux DJs or if it was like the fully fledged software to use regardless of gear.

I’ll see if it works with Hercules Starlight! Thank you for the suggestion!

knokelmaat OP , in Let's discuss: Age of Empires

Age of empires II is one of my first experiences as a child playing games. I used to play it on a computer in the back of my mother’s pharmacy. A friend of mine was a huge fan, but I truly sucked at it.

Later I bought Lord of the Rings: the Battle for Middle Earth II, and to this date this is the only RTS that I actually enjoy playing a lot (I later also played the first one which is also amazing).

Still, I played Age of Empires II a lot, mostly the tutorial levels and the early missions of Jeanne d’Arc. I think the micromanaging and constantly having to do multiple things at once (like constantly making new units, etc.) were to much for me (and it still is). Still, a classic in gaming history and a part of my childhood!
