I’ve been thinking about a taxonomy of Roguelikes that should help us speak more clearly about this genre - or group of genres - that we love. I’d rather do this than just call things “roguelites”, which basically doesn’t mean anything. So here we go!...

I have a few games that I am playing at the moment, but a lot of them require at least some time commitment once you start a round. I'd like something that I can start now and maybe finish later. Something on the line of Solitaire or https://mergetin.com/ .

I would like recommendations for open world games where the player has abundant ways to interact with the world, be it with the NPCs or buildings, and does not have to worry about survival aspects of the character or spending time exploring a static world. I would not mind if it comes at the cost of a smaller sized world, as...

Just as with books, movies, plays etc the past holds a treasure trove of amazing experiences. Unless you have a lot more free time than I do it’s unlikely you’ve played anywhere near the majority of the classics. Just an open world survival game, only you’re a cat, dealing with regular cat problems. You have to hunt, avoid larger animals, compete with other cats, figure out which humans are dangerous and which will give you treats, judiciously spray things to maintain your territory, maybe mate and reproduce (your sex and fertility...

I know there is runescape and albion but is there anything else, or are those the only small file sized ones for pc?...

I’m looking to getting back into VR gaming. However, with my switch to Linux, that has made things a little more complicated. I don’t own a Valve Index (although I’ve heard that there are some issues with the Index on Linux), I own a Rift CV1. As far as I’m aware, the Oculus Rift is pretty much completely incompatible...

I miss those so much. Any modern games still playing with this concept? I remember Half Life had the bathroom, kitchen, and office, and I remember a backyard one in Quake 3 that was really cool.
