So I have set up my own Mastodon instance and it’s empty. What should I do to fill up my instance with content? And how do I do that other users of Mastodon on other instances see my “tweets” on my instance?
If an instance were to leave the fediverse do we loose all its data? Say for example iPad Lenny.ml domain was seized or was forced to shutdown so we loose all communities from that host? Do we not see any posts? Can we still post to it? Seems like a big flaw if we have multiple large instances that can shutdown a significant...
The main reason for the Linux operating system not seeing widespread adoption is because of its multitude of distros. Ubuntu, Debian, Arch, Mint… there are just so many choices, just like how when someone asks how to join the Fediverse people will response with “which instance?”...
I think that most folks use upvote/ downvote as an v agree/ disagree. But maybe there could be, in the long run, a place where other votes could be made. Dm it’s more like a song quality system, maybe similar to customer support reviews you get agree after dealing with a customer support call ....
Working on an awesome Macro/Microblogging project to bring to the Fediverse. Very excited as it has been built based on hundreds of users feedback regarding Mastodon and the Fediverse. I know time is precious so not looking to suck up anyones time. I respect whatever bandwidth people have to give.
I heard it will be on the Fediverse. Is it true? I heard it had 30 millions users registered on the first day. Wtf. The whole Fediverse doesn’t even have 10 millions users. I heard it will not be available in Europe, yet. I visited www.threads.net and I don’t know if it’ll be the Threads instance to the Fediverse....
Exploring the fediverse has been fun, but I’m still trying to figure out things. I have a mastodon account, but also decided to check out other fediverse projects and came across misskey. Made an account or miruku.cafe, and it seems quite similar to mastodon to me. Are they very similar?
I was wondering if there was a community where admins of different instances got together and chat in general about decisions for how they run their instances....
I’d like to self-host Lemmy or kbin and mastodon. I know I could use different subdomain for each, but I’d much rather keep it short. Something tells me, however, that other instances might not be happy about it....
I want to self host my own lemmy instance for personal use. I have seen there Github page and it is really easy to set up but I have some questions?...
I’ve seen the controversy where lemmy.world defederated from 2 piracy instances. So since there is no one big owner what is stopping someone creating a instance that host CP or other illegal stuff?...
I’m very new to the fediverse, but I love the concept. I was really excited about the idea of setting up my own instance (because apparently I can’t just wade into the shallow end first). As I started reading guides and thinking through how it would all work, a question popped into my mind: How does an instance A discover...
Having grown up on livejournal, tumblr really was the closest in experience and culture to how it was then. reddit text posts were actually closest appearance to a livejournal post for quite a while but by the time that was added everyone were comfortable on tumblr, and following users in reddit were added even later....
