I joined Lemmy a few weeks before the API change. I loved the conversations. I loved how the content was slower but more engaging, and less politically charged. There was nobody shitting on Elon Musk, or Twitter, or Reddit....

I dunno whether to mark this NSFW or not but do your worst.

How many times have we seen people create throwaway accounts on these types of platforms? People often want to share something valuable yet intimate without having it be tied to their online identity for privacy reasons. Some folks create new accounts for this reason. Others decide to remain silent....

I am gonna start my last semester in CS so for me it was just generally games. I went pretty fast from the game dev aspiring route over to other professional areas in my HS years. What about you?

Why are these super old posts “hot” all of a sudden?

Is there a way to see what posts you have upvoted? I was trying to show a cool thing I saw on lemmy earlier to someone but I can’t seem to find a list of my past upvotes....

Any info about it?

Is there a modern lemmy web ui option out there? lemmy.world and all the other instances I know use a lightweight, basic UI which has its benifits and gives a bit of an old reddit feel....

Being an old grandpa not that adept at tech, I don’t know how Lemmy works. I mean, I know it’s decentralized and it’s supposed to be better than reddit, but still, how vulnerable is this platform from censors looking to block anything in here?...

I have a question? Why are there so many links to reddit on lemmy? We need our own content and not just bots linking to subreddits.

Why is it that I can find the dogs community lemmy.world with over 2k subscribers while the same community does not appear when I search from vlemmy?

While uploading videos to Lemmy is not supported yet, what is an easy alternative solution to share videos on Lemmy? I don’t want to use YouTube, it should be easy to use and work on Lemmy-UI (if possible).

As everyone eventually will as the internet gets older, I know a few dead people. Obviously I don’t have access to their account, I can just see their tweets and photos that they left public. I have tried to archive them using www.archive.is which does correctly archive what it can see at the users account, but obviously...

I already get rate-limited like crazy on lemmy and there are only like 60,000 users on my instance. Is each instance really just one server or are there multiple containers running across several hosts? I’m concerned that federation will mean an inconsistent user experience. Some instances many be beefy, others will be under...
