Is this an effect of Epic winning that lawsuit against Google and wanting them to provide access from third-party app stores? Or is just typical Google fuckery?
I cam vouch for Snapdrop/Pairdrop or whatever it is called nowadays. Requires opening a browser and being on the same network. Snapdrop does support sending files over the internet, but I couldn’t get it to work last time I tried.
I think I sorta used it in the early 2010s but with 3rd party apps to transfer larger files phone to phone instead of bluetooth.
Nowadays NFC does it fine enough but I rarely have the need to share files outside of my home.
Been using Samsung messages for years, not Google messages, but I just wanna comment.
I’m OK with it. It’s been an ai race. It’s natural that Google is taking advantage of the millions of Android phones and of the fact that many are using Google messages and Gmail. Adding Gemini to Google messages is sensible to me. I just hope it won’t be annoying.
Gmail has been my main email but I didn’t see Gemini in it. Maybe in the future?
No. Even if a Firefox webview existed, it woul’d not use the extensions from your main browser. An adblock option is available from the native alpha settings if you’re interested.
This makes more sense when coupled with AR glasses (Xreal, Viture, etc) especially when riding in a plane or car for a long trip. With DEX at least, your phone becomes a track pad, but without a typing device it’s a bit limited. Unfortunately many android apps don’t translate well to landscape mode.
Btw, you can keep circle to search on and use GoodLock to remove the nav bar. You just press and hold in the middle where the nav bar would be to activate circle to search
