I think it would be great if the navigation bar applied material you design.

My s23u has a much shittier camera than my previous one. I got it because I wanted a better camera…

    Nope, just wanted to know.

I will say that when I got it, I took a pretty good picture of the moon. My previous Galaxy 7 would look like a flat white disc.

FriditaBonita , in Boost for Lemmy now available!

Thank you! You rock! Missed Boost!

vamp07 , in any other pixel 6 users lose their fingerprint and biometrics settings options completely after the latest update?

Maybe. My pixel today would no read my finger but fingerprint scanners on all android devices I have tried are flaky.

    sir_reginald ,
    @sir_reginald@lemmy.world avatar

What do you mean? only the ones in the screen or the very first ones from years ago tend to fail. Otherwise, fingerprint scanners on Android work like a charm.

    phx ,

I honestly don’t understand the migration to in screen readers. Yes, it’s cool that OLED allows passthrough, but an indent at the back makes getting a consistently centered finger easier. Barring that, I like how Razer put theirs in the power button

    vamp07 ,

You are right. The ones in the screen just don’t work well enough. Why after the pixel 4 they abandoned face recognition is beyond me.

    ryapric ,

Not sure what you mean, I’m typing this from my Pixel 7a which I unlocked with my face.

    random65837 ,

Allegedly the half assed way it was implemented was a battery destroyer and had heat issues. The 6Pro’s had it. If you watch pre release viseos of them, it was still in there, but got pulled right at release.

My oneplus 7 pro is really solid, it only fails to read if I just got out of the shower/pool or something.

    OmnislashIsACloudApp OP ,

no that’s not what I mean, I mean the setting is literally gone. there is no biometrics option.

any app that I previously used fingerprint login glitches out trying to load the bio pop-up, there is no lock screen option, etc.

    monotremata ,

For me it's under Settings, Privacy and Security, Device Lock, Fingerprint Unlock. I removed my fingerprints from it the other day, though, because it was so inconsistent at unlocking my phone that it seemed faster to just use a numeric code.

    OmnislashIsACloudApp OP ,

yeah that’s where it used to be for me, and I had it set up.

it just literally vanished after the update.

    monotremata ,

That's wild! Sorry that's happening to you.

    random65837 ,

Haven’t even remotely had that expericed. They’ve all worked flawlessly. Even the in screen one on my 6Pro works perfectly 9/10x.

mikehunt , in Should I buy a Pixel or a Samsung?

Haven’t had a samsung phone since the note 3, but I remember having issues with unlocking the bootloader, I think you had to use some 3rd party tool because samsung provided no guide in their manual. With nexus and pixel phones it’s really easy so them I can definately recommend.

trag468 , in Boost for Lemmy is happening!

I’ve been waiting for it to come out and it just got pushed to my phone today. This is my first comment on Lemmy! Woo! So far it’s feeling pretty seamless.

Funny to see all the Sync hate, when in that last client pole it easily took 1st place. =)

The $20 no ad fee was a bit shocking

    TimLovesTech ,
    @TimLovesTech@badatbeing.social avatar

As a long time Sync user I guess I already knew Sync was my long term client, and $20 for an ad free version for the lifetime of the app doesn't sound so bad. The developer is great with adding things the community wants and updates frequently. But having a choices is always a good thing!
