Hopefully it supports Kbin as well

ghariksforge , in Thunder: A new app for Lemmy

is it on Fdroid?

Yep, I'm using obtainium for lemmy apps currently though since the update intervals are pretty short considering they are in alpha.

RIP

eleitl , in For the people coming in asking what app for Lemmy. You don't need it. Lemmy is great on a mobile browser.

Please do not assume to know every user’s needs.

dontbreakit , in Navigation without mashing CPU?

Is the phone maybe overheating and throttling, due to being exposed to direct sunlight on the dash? Wireless charging can have the same effect

Uncle_Iroh , in Boost for Lemmy is happening!

That’s great. I’ve been using boost for years, can’t wait to have them for lemmy!

PreciousDeclaration , in what the hell, 9 and a half gigs spent on system space?
@PreciousDeclaration@lemmy.world avatar

I have a Samsung a53 5G, and the system storage on my phone is 26.34 GB. I didn’t even realize until I just now looked that it was taking up that much space.

Clbull , in Boost for Lemmy is happening!

Android users desperately need a better app for browsing Lemmy than Jerboa. Boost and Sync may just be that app.

Cabeza2000 ,

Or Liftoff.

vagrantprodigy ,

Connect is decent too.

ArghZombies ,

I'm using Connect at the moment. Seems pretty good. It's cool that there's all this competition and people get a choice. Maybe Reddit should consider opening up their API to 3rd party apps...

Liftoff is really good imo

Incendiary OP ,

Liftoff is the best one so far IMO.

Fireinthesky7 ,

Liftoff has been a bit slow for me today, but I imagine they’re getting a massive amount of traffic that wasn’t necessarily in the plans. Or maybe that’s just Lemmy in general.

Redex68 , in what the hell, 9 and a half gigs spent on system space?

It’s not only bloat. From what I remember I think it’s also swap space, probably also some space for caching and some other things. E.g. I have 42GB of system space out of 256 on my Galaxy S21, and it’s definitely not all bloat apps.

Because on my phone, using Firefox, the mobile experience isn’t too great. It’s slow, sometimes the screen just blanks out and I need to reload, and sometimes it rapid-fires new posts on the top of the page which makes it impossible to click anything

Was actually disappointed with the lemmy experience till I tried wefwef.

ouzkse , in Thunder: A new app for Lemmy

Thunder is OK for now, until Sync comes out

Glunkbor , in Thunder: A new app for Lemmy

Tried “Memmy” before and right now I like Thunder a bit more. The UI looks cleaner to me, it works well. Good job, I have put it on my phone where I used to have Apollo.

Alperto ,

I’m trying it now too, thanks for the comment, but if you’re an ex-Apollo like me, I highly recommend giving a try to Wefwef.app. It’s a web app but you can install it on your screen and looks almost identical to Apollo and feels very much like home. I discovered it today thanks to another comment and I can’t believe this exists.

Glunkbor ,

I have just read about it in a different comment as well, tried it and it does feel a bit like coming home. Thank you for recommending it to me as well, it’s wonderful to see that it gets easier and easier to take part here!

No, Slide for Reddit filled a different spot than old.reddit with RES. Apps can put less load on server instances, too.

liontigerwings , in For the people coming in asking what app for Lemmy. You don't need it. Lemmy is great on a mobile browser.

Dude, most us left reddit because we loved our app. Apps are generally more refined than websites and offer better notification interaction.

It's better than reddits mobile site but native apps always win if the dev puts in an effort to make it good.
