Elektrotechnik , in What's something that was dismissed as a gimmick but you liked?

Easily notification light. People always say “oh, it’s totally obsolete with always on displays”. But with a notification light I could focus on other stuff and the blinking light got my attention better. With the AOD, I always catch myself glancing at my phone. Also, the light’s color clearly indicated which app caused the notification. I had White for calls, Green for Whatsapp, Yellow for the ebay app, Red for GMail and so on. “You can do all that with an OLED screen! It only lights up the pixels that-” Can you, though? All apps that I tried were utter garbage. Buggy performance, very battery hungry and very cumbersome to configure. I don’t know if custom firmwares actually have that feature in a usable state nowadays, as I cannot root my phone anymore without losing core functionalities like online banking.

Yeah, everything tends to go to shit with time. I miss my Galaxy S2.

inventa , in I don't miss reddit, but this notification hit hard

The announcement is missing mentioning that any content tagged aw NSFW will not be accessible from their app. This was one of the biggest points that made the API changes impracticable for app devs, charging a very significant amount of money for a reduced experience .

I use the Windows launcher, it’s really smooth.

Fermentingflora , in Fairphone 4 In the US

I’ve got the fairphone 3+ running /e/ os and T-Mobile is the carrier. It works pretty well and I don’t have many complaints. Keep in mind that the FP 3+ only connects to 3G and 4G networks while I believe the FP 4 connects to 4G and 5G networks so I don’t have any experience using 5G. I’m sure it would be fine unless you have any specific reason to doubt that Verizon would work.

NOVA. Every single time I’ve tried an alternate launcher, I always return to NOVA within 24 hours.

Lilium , in What niche phone features would appeal to you?

It’s the rear fingerprint reader for me, I use the pulldown action constantly. That and stereo front-facing speakers.

I’m a big guy, with big hands.

Got the s22 ultra, and it feels like it’s finally a me sized phone. I’ve been fighting tiny phones for decades!

In the end, we need a range from small to large.

I’ve been using nova launcher prime since forever. Make a backup on my old phone when getting a new one, and import it on the new phone.

Everytime someone says this and manufacturers end up making a smaller phone… no one buys them.

Nova Launcher Prime. The only one I stuck too, and never managed to leave.

Neo launcher for me. it's on fdroid.

it's not perfect and can get buggy, but once you set it up, and don't mess with the settings too much. it's acceptable replacement for Nova launcher.

Had nova prime, but switched after the buyout

The comments section of a post like this feels like early reddit. Love it!

I adored my Pixel 3a. The size was perfect in my opinion. Small enough to handle with one hand and to put it in my pockets, big enough to enjoy watching videos on it. The Samsung S10e was lovely too.

I don’t have sources but I remember them stating that small form factor phones were not selling too well. So I guess we won’t see many flagship or even midrange phones in the near future.

I’ll even say this…not every phone needs to be water resistant just bring back the ports and sd cards slots we loved
