I mean… They have to do something with it. But this is also the issue environment activists have with nuclear energy. We don’t have a good way or dealing with the byproducts yet. If we didn’t it could be a great “green” energy until we develop something better.

Wait, was it because she’s too fascist or not fascist enough?

Code ,

Define Fascism.

GuStJaR ,

a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition

Code ,

What doesn’t make sense to me is why Republicans are called Fascist. You say that it involves a “centralized autocratic government”, but the whole belief of Republicans is LESS government involvement.

“Severe economic and social regimentation” that doesn’t make sense either considering the liberal states are having a mass exodus in favor of Republican states like Texas. Fun fact, Texas is the #1 state for business in the USA with the highest growth, and despite its smaller population, it almost has the same GDP as California (and substantially less residents). If “Fascists” are so bad, why is everyone moving to their states?

“Forcible suppression of opposition” Democrats literally weaponized the FBI to take down their political oppositions lol.

Tell me you believe anything the media says without telling me.🤦‍♂️

PS: Trump sucks

Erratic ,

Just addressing the “almost has the same GDP as California” statement

…wikipedia.org/…/List_of_U.S._states_and_territor…

Nominal GDP 2022 California: $3,598,103 million USD Texas: $2,355,960 million USD

Per Capita GDP 2022 California: $92,190 Texas: $78,456

???

JudgeHolden ,

It’s a common lie. The reality is that red states score much lower on every objective quality of life metric, while having much higher rates of things like violent crime, addiction and suicide than any blue state let alone any of the US’s peer nations in the rest of the developed world. It’s not even remotely close. With very few exceptions, the social pathologies we see throughout the US are concentrated in red states. Blue states have problems too, but they tend to be related to the fact that they are highly desirable places to live.

afraid_of_zombies2 , to news in Aspartame Sweetener Possible Carcinogen Says W.H..O

Meh. If you ignore every cancer long enough you don’t have to worry about any of them.

We need a neutral body that is willing to treat it like binary. Does it increase the odds of cancer above a certain threshold given situations that normal users would deal with? Then yes it causes cancer. Else no. I am sick of these governing bodies using weasel words to defend their claims. Statements like this make people do averaging. Suddenly these super hypothetical situations are rated as deadily as smoking.

panicky_patzer OP ,

I think a binary system leaves no room for nuance, and therefore, no ability for consumers to make informed decisions. What about a scale instead? 1 could mean “Cancerous? Technically, but don’t worry about it unless you’re mainlining it 23 hours a day, dude.” And 10 could mean, “Seriously, make sure your will is updated.”

wolfpack86 ,

Like cooking meat creates carcinogens if any of it is burned.

Mongostein , to worldnews in Climate nears point of no return as land, sea temperatures break records, experts say

Ok. So what should I be doing about it now? I’ve been on the recycling train for 30 years, I ride my bike instead of driving as much as possible, I compost and grow vegetables with it to name a few things. What else would our corporate overlords like me to do while they do nothing but gouge us?

It’s disgusting that I first scrolled past this headline and shrugged before coming back to make this comment.

yogthos OP ,

The reality is that this is not a problem that can be solved by individual action. The only way forward is systemic change away from the capitalist system where large industry is owned by the oligarchs. What people in the west need to do is to start organizing a movement for socialism before capitalism kills us all.

Biden’s order will also direct the government to consider ways to make affordable over-the-counter contraception, including emergency contraception, more accessible, the fact sheet said. This could include convening pharmacies, employers, and insurers to explore the issue.
