For some, the uncertainty came hand-in-hand with hope that Milei’s ambitions, including dollarizing Argentina’s economy and closing the central bank, would bring more financial stability to a country that’s seen poverty top 40% this year.

ISTANBUL, Nov 20 (Reuters) - Turkish rescue teams searched on Monday for 11 missing crew members of a cargo ship which sunk off the Black Sea coast amid storms that claimed the lives of at least nine people, including one from the ship, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said.
He said the Turkish-flagged Kafkametler, with 12 crew on board, had sunk off the coast of Eregli in northwest Turkey’s Zonguldak province and that the body of one crew member had been retrieved.
The ship’s captain had reported on Sunday morning that the ship was drifting toward a breakwater at Eregli and Yerlikaya.
The vessel possibly hit the structure after that.
The region was hit by powerful storms on Sunday, and inclement weather prevented air and sea vessels from carrying out searches until Monday morning.
Yerlikaya told reporters that storms and flooding across Turkey over the weekend had resulted in the deaths of four people in the southeastern province of Batman, three people in Zonguldak and another person in Diyarbakir, also in the southeast.

JERUSALEM, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Israel published video on Sunday of what it described as a tunnel dug by Palestinian militants under the Gaza Strip’s biggest hospital, a focus of its search-and-destroy missions against Hamas in a war now in its seventh week.
While acknowledging that it has a network of hundreds of kilometres of secret tunnels, bunkers and access shafts throughout the Palestinian enclave, Hamas has denied that these are located in civilian infrastructure like hospitals.
In an update on operations in Gaza City’s Al Shifa Hospital, the Israeli military said its engineers had uncovered a tunnel 10 metres deep and running 55 metres to a blast-proof door.
“This type of door is used by the Hamas terrorist organisation to block Israeli forces from entering the command centres and the underground assets belonging to Hamas,” said a military statement accompanied by video showing a narrow passage with arched concrete roofing, ending at a grey door.
The statement did not say what was beyond the door.
The tunnel had been accessed through a shaft discovered in a shed within the Shifa compound that contained munitions, it said.

HONG KONG, Dec 3 (Reuters) - China’s yuan currency overtook the euro in October, becoming the second-most used currency in trade finance, global transaction services organisation SWIFT said on Tuesday.
The market share of yuan usage in trade finance, or Letters of Credit and Collection, grew to 8.66 percent in October 2013.
The yuan, also known as the renminbi, now ranks behind the U.S. dollar, which remains the leading currency with a share of 81.08 percent.
The top five countries using the yuan for trade finance in October were China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Germany and Australia, SWIFT said in a statement.
The world’s second-larget economy is accelerating the pace of financial reform to promote its currency to international players beyond Hong Kong.
China aims to lift the yuan’s global clout and reduce its reliance on the U.S. dollar.

BANGKOK, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Forty-one Thai nationals, trapped in northern Myanmar amid a surge in fighting between junta troops and armed ethnic-minority groups near the Chinese border, returned to Thailand on Saturday, the Thai army said.
Tens of thousands of people have been displaced across Myanmar as the military government, which seized power in a 2021 coup, battles a coordinated offensive by an alliance of three ethnic-minority groups and pro-democracy fighters.
Thai authorities have said some of those trapped in Myanmar were “victims of human trafficking” and some might be related to telecoms fraud gangs.
