See the problem is you’re broke and you shouldn’t be. Just pay the $10 for the monthly subscription. You get to see ads about buying more coins to buy awards for people you get to customize that cool little Reddit robot with exclusive premium clothes and accessories. That’s a bargain… or patch your favorite third party Reddit app with Revanced Manager I’m using Boost right now.
Yeah no one should be hurt, wet or out of pocket. The empty cup is an easy and anonymous (so no confrontation) way of letting the person know they’re being inconsiderate.
I don’t agree with their decision but I understand their reasons. Probably the new instance is more suitable for the community, however they were growing in one of the biggest Lemmy instances. I think the best they could’ve done was to ask the community. Despite of that, I expect the android community to continue growing as it was before moving.
I can understand that instead of the others commenting, but I don’t really agree with the idea of them arbitrarily deciding they can do whatever they want with the community and punish the users who weren’t aware of that and don’t want to move and or check to another place.
Seems a bit barbaric and awkwardtheturtle esk imo to just do a bunch of stuff without asking the community if they’d like to switch, they just decided “no we’re going to close and you’re gonna like it” essentially lol
Baha i have the particular experience of an AMD card that is a weird age, apparently. I still have an old R9 390 which defaults to using the older-compatibility “radeon” drivers instead of the “amdgpu” drivers. Turns out this card doesn’t work terribly well with those old drivers, and can’t even play videos.
Took me a while to figure out what was wrong, testing out a fresh linux mint install to try and dip my toes in ;p
That said, i still would prefer this over the proprietary drivers and difficulty with that~
so true it’s awful you can’t tell posts from ads from what your subscribed too. all for what. I started using reddit with Apollo and it has to be the best app that I’ve chose/chosen to use(probably very close to a human guide lines compliment app too so many options and tweaks). to lose it over money grab ego bolstering is just the nail in the coffin for reddit to me. to think it used to be this place to be exposed to new ideas and topics anf by the way if you have any technical, personal, or financial question you can find some good literal information with a little effort for that too. just a shame our societies fr profit mentality.
