Ocean surface temps are super high too.

Oops. Posted wrong pic at first.

This is super scary, more than the atmosphere. We know this was happening but this fast means accelerated extinctions and faster disruption of the world ecosystem.

It would’ve been so easy to fix it if we didn’t live in a profit driven society.

jbloggs777 ,

That’ll cost you. /s

Boddhisatva ,

It is. The oceans are the the Earth’s heat sink. They can absorb a tremendous amount of heat without changing temperature much. They have soaked up much of the heat captured by greenhouse gasses over the decades and these temperatures may suggest that they cannot absorb much more.

just logout the users and you dont need to worry about powerwashing unless the ssd is full.

each user has encrypted home directory, removing the user removes the decrypt keys.

if you’re worried about the NSA getting to the user dir then you’re on your own.

Hextic ,

No I was thinking the same. Rita can get it.

InfiniWheel ,

Tried finding an image of her without the costume to support your point but its actually pretty hard to find a photo of her without any of her tokusatsu costumes. At least of one during Zyuranger(MMPR’s source material)'s filming.

Yes, both of those words can be argued to apply in a vacuum. “AI” has started to intrinsically mean neural nets now, though.

As for the title: Lol, look at this guy who doesn’t even loop. What are you going to do, halt on top of me?

PS. Is there a way to crosspost comments easily?

@Rootiest@lemmy.world avatar

By largest you mean “most common”?

Wage theft is the most common form of theft.

Which is kind of crazy and really messed up.

We should do something about it!

Asafum ,

I believe it’s also largest in dollar amount by a long shot.

tcworkerscenter.org/…/Wage-Theft-vs-Other-Theft-1…

Just a quick search found something from 2018 so don’t crucify me if it’s not accurate anymore lol

Rootiest , (edited )
@Rootiest@lemmy.world avatar

Oh good point I didn’t think of that!

So it’s both the most common and the most costly theft, and we are all the victims.

Yay.

Mercival ,

I mean, it does depend on whether you count white-collar crime Bernie Madoff and Sam Bankman-Fried style as theft (the statistic provided does not).

If you did, it would dwarf the wage theft, but it would also put what usually gets prosecuted as “theft” into jaw-dropping perspective, making it look like the drop in the ocean, it is.

Melkor , to programmerhumor in a brain is a network of if()

In computer science (at least before hype took over) this is actually a type of machine learning called an expert system.

Spuddaccino ,

No, it’s not.

What the philosoraptor is saying is that literally any computer program is machine learning, which is untrue.

An expert system is a system designed to simulate an expert. It’s something you would seek advice from in some way. They’re used in medical diagnoses and stock market trading, for example.

Melkor ,

Expert systems are a series of if statements by definition, a rule engine. I was going off of “a network of ifs” but I get what you mean.

Well okay, maybe that’s not as bad as complete collapse and mass deaths and migrants drowning in the Mediterranean and malaria

But still, Christmas dinner is gonna suck more and more

Fribbtastic ,

A couple of years back we had a day in December (I think it was the week before Christmas) in which it was so hot that people were sitting in T-Shirts in the “Beer Garden” (German thing for an open-air Pub). I think it was like 23°C, in December…
