Yeah, I was kind of shocked nothing like it existed. When I searched I think there was one mainly 3d printer specific maker community on a small instance, but I like a bit broader scope and lemmy.world seems more populated. Hope the content creators and reposters find this place!
Oh there’s also obviously the big 3dprinting only instance at !3dprinting for 3d printing specific, but when I searched around for generic “maker” stuff I couldn’t find anything else.
I’m a bit confused. is lemmy.world not meant for music? From what I gather lemmy.studio is a different instance which means I have to start a new account to make communities within it?
No, lemmy.world is for any type of community, you don’t necessarily need to move it to lemmy.studio , but it will help lemmy.world, since lots of people have been signing up in a short time-frame. You would have to start an account on an instance if you want to create an instance there. It’s up to you if you want to change it to another instance or not
It’s just that I’d be better if we spreaded communities around between different servers, and that instance, lemmy.studio, was kinda created by a music fan for mostly music-related communities.
You can create an account there and then create communities there, or don’t, it doesn’t really matter, but it’d be cool to see different instances flourish.
The fediverse is the way. I’m not smart enough to say if it’s the best option, but it’s a hell of a lot better than a profit driven monolith run by out of touch investors. Reddit won’t implode but it won’t be the same as it was even a week ago. This decentralized structure is what the internet wants to be.
Bought mine in the 90’s from a high school friend. Got the car adapter and it was a lifesaver for the family road trips which we did a lot of back then. I kept it even though it stopped working years ago. Then learned how to recap it during the pandemic and got hooked to console modding. That was a slippery slope. I’ve since bought, fixed, and customized 6 game gears with custom-painted shells and installed the different variations of screen and power upgrades. Now I find broken consoles and fix/upgrade them as a hobby. There’s something so satisfying about bringing life back to gaming hardware that people have given up on.
oh! that’s a good idea… I guess I just figured it would be awkward to clutter up a single community with multiple languages? maybe that’s the whole point though. 🤷
This is almost certainly because of the social media trend to destroy public bathrooms. Not “teehee I pulled out a lot of toilet paper” but “I body slammed the air dryer until it broke off.”
