I’m not usually big on boycotts since corporations are entrenched enough that they need gov’t intervention to do anything meaningful but the totality of the circumstances and the likelihood of a better local coffee shop in your area would tell me to skip the awful Starbucks setup.
Zuck would just be contemplating the data harvesting. He’s not really pro censorship, so long as the hateful stuff is buried in private fb communities. He couldn’t be bothered to turn off aspects of his site regarding the Rohingya.
And I dont want to give off the wrong impression about my stance on censorship, but if you’re curating social media content via a algorithm, you have more responsibility regarding the consequences then someone who’s just providing hosting.
Back when Amazon Smile was a thing, I had Amazon notifications turned on (a prerequisite for earning charity donations), and had Tasker set up to automatically dismiss them so they wouldn’t bother me.
It only existed so they would get to stop paying google for click-throughs. They ended it because enough people use the apps or go straight to the website now. Was never about charity.
I’m loving that some small teams also manage to make products better than AAA firms in terms of performance. BattleBit has been a blast to play with 127v127 players, and it runs so well. I know the graphics aren’t as intense as other games, but that takes a backseat for me when the game has practically no performance issues and is satisfying to play.
