I mean… They did do stuff like fix the ozone layer. Unlike us, they have the excuse of information being considerably harder to come by because they didn’t really have the internet. So far, for the most part, all we’re doing collectively is being mad about it online. Oh, yeah I guess we banned straws.
Millennials have been adults for a while now and… Welp. I don’t think it’ll be long before the newer gens start heavy criticizing us and frankly we’ll deserve it. If we were any less apathetic than previous gens things would have already changed or be changing faster imo.
On one hand yeah, I’d look at us pretty dimly from the outside
On the other, we’ve been kinda fucked. Our mental health is in the gutter, we’re unable to make connections the way every other generation could, we’re missing all these milestones like buying a house and having kids and older generations keep telling us it’s our fault.
Even as far as voting, we’ve been fucked. Previous generations had a choice - we get an ultimatum
They just keep gaslighting us.
We don’t have the money, we don’t have the power, but we do have the numbers and as a group we’re not ok… Frankly, there’s no way this ends well. It’s hard to comprehend how the powers that be haven’t realized that and thrown us a bone now and again
See, my crippled ass is going to squeeze through anyway. Even if that means the metal clasps on my shoulder bag grind against the vehicle, or even if the attachment point for the strap on my cane happens to dig in if I happen to stumble because of the tight space.
Will that result in dents and scrapes? Absolutely. Do I care? Absolutely not.
My non-crippled ass would possibly also have some issues. I might trip with my keys in my hand or something worse. Who’s to know what dangers parking like this could pose.
You can request this in most countries, especially here in Canada. It’s cool that the Aussie government makes it more transparent and accessible though. The “other purposes” seems a bit sussy-baka, though.
There is no excuse for any country not to do this TBH. The math is really easy and uses already available information: take the year’s total federal spending for different things, specifically in the form of percentages of the year’s total tax revenue (hopefully the government has been keeping track of what they’ve been using the money for) and multiply by the total taxes paid by a specific person and you get exactly how much of their money went to what. This assumes every person’s tax revenue is treated the same which I’m pretty sure is at least mostly the case in every country.
If they release the national spending percentages (which they should) then it’d be pretty easy for individuals to calculate these themselves.
i’m assuming that “other purposes” are other categories that each are smaller than the ones listed. they are probably available on a website or something that gives the full list.
it would be nice if they had merged them together in wider but more informative categories though
