At this point attempting to talk with an insecure firebase connection would give more results

marmalade , to linux in Desktop environment Ram consumption: Cinnamon, Gnome, KDE, Mate, LXDE, LXQT

I’ve been on KDE for a while now. Doesn’t feel as heavy as I guess it is. That said, if you want Wayland you’re kinda stuck with GNOME or KDE (if you want something traditional). I’ve been enjoying KDE since the switch, though. I’m hoping it’ll get more resources from Valve.

By the way, Barmen is a city in Germany, in context to the original post

Don’t know why he’s so annoyed, maybe you didn’t throw his database, but still something happened, I’m pretty sure…

agressivelyPassive ,

No, it's just a pretty lame joke that got repeated like five million times.

Unfortunately our community breeds an extremely self-referential, repetitive humour that can get quite annoying. Like that one guy pissing his pants laughing because 42 hahahaha.

lemann , to piracy in Is it me or is the Piracy sub on lemmy.ml gone ?Shows now "no instance found"

I think it’s been hit by a bug where a remote mod (mod from another instance) edits the community, causing something related to the federation break

The community isn’t removed, it still exists at lemmy.ml/c/[email protected] but not lemmy.ml/c/piracy although it’s the same instance

nice, what did you do?

gylotip OP ,

Accidentally commented on a subreddit I was banned from another account. Quickly deleting it still didn’t work. The mods reported it to the admins, thus you know.

ikiru ,

How did they even know it was you? Do you have them linked, did you mention you were banned, or do you not use VPNs?

That rule always seemed to me basically unenforceable.

empireOfLove ,

Reddit collects a lot more user login data than you think. They most definitely know exactly what unique machine you’re using to log in regardless of IP.

Thorny_Thicket ,

I’ve often wondered how this works when people use generic computers like macbooks. I’ve been banned from subs before but because I make a new account like once a year I just end up back there commenting eventually and I haven’t ever been banned again.

Just your browser already gives away a ton about you. See here: amiunique.org/fp

Out of 2,000,000 fingerprints my browser is unique (well, I do use Firefox). So in theory a website owner could identify me just based on that. No IP needed.

An easier way to subscribe to communities from other instances. For example, a small or initially hidden subscribe button on the main feed next to any post.

Umechan ,

Also greater visibility of communities on other instances, as they won’t be recognized until someone manually searches for them by their address. Right now you have to rely on the Lemmy Community browser or !newcommunities @lemmy.world.

Better nsfw content filter (ability to filter porn vs general nsfw content such as violent content or just triggering based on context

Content search, search by specific subject or topic, keyword, etc

agentshags ,
@agentshags@sh.itjust.works avatar

Maybe they just need to add a porn tag

Arcanus ,
@Arcanus@lemmy.world avatar

Maybe, but I keep seeing the same complaint over and again from people, I do t really care about it for myself, I have a separate account for the naughty stuff, everything else is blocked on my main account, but sometimes nsfw doesn’t mean porn, maybe it’s explicitly described violence, or something else, not just porn. Maybe I would like the option to have nsfw content presented to me that isn’t people getting fucked. More nuance in the content delivery would be appreciated
