I have a dysfunctional baby. We took an 8 month old on a plane to Japan because of a family tragedy and she freaking got excited when we hit turbulence and when we landed. Five other babies lost their shit but my kids all giggling.

Actually, she also lost her shit in a literal way, Jesus fucking Christ the amount of poop that came out after the pressure change or someone. Ain’t nobody talks about that but all babies shit their pants at landing— pretty sure.

GreenMario ,

Get her a dirt bike and a ramp. You may have a future stunt woman on your hands.

Active directory and it’s integration with services such as DNS and DHCP is pretty great though. I wish Microsoft started focusing less on cloud and improved the user (or rather admin) experience of their server tools, they are quite awful is some cases.

exu ,

AD is the easiest in Windows. We can argue about DNS, but DHCP? You can’t even change the subnet size after the fact without destroying and remaking the scope.

lud ,

It has a feature with integration with AD. Personally I would just put DHCP on a router or something, but it’s an option.

smileyhead ,

Or Hod forbit managing IPv6 local space on Windows.

avapa ,

I swear to god most of Windows Server’s tools have barely changed since NT 4.0

lud ,

And sometimes they make a new tool that’s better, kinda. And then they never bother updating it to make it good. Looking at you AD admin center.

GPedit is the most annoying tool ever. Why the hell can’t I just edit GPO settings values from the active settings menu, without having to open the entire GPO and navigate the huge mess of settings.

rynzcycle , to memes in Breakfasts from around the world!

This is clearly out of date. The traditional UK breakfast now is nothing because inflation means I can only afford 1.5 meals a day.

bernieecclestoned ,

Just stop being poor, problem solved

moody ,

Have you tried being born rich? It would solve all your problems.

fakeman_pretendname ,

You might have to cut down on the beans, but you can still have a semi-traditional bowl of sadness for breakfast. Most important meal of the day.

kbotc ,

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Just do breakfast and bangers and mash for dinner, skip the bangers.

Boom: 1.5 meals. Just worry about potato crop failure.

Afghaniscran ,

Jokes on you, I’m having sadness for breakfast dinner and tea.

Brickhead92 ,

You’d save abo… Wait a minute, us regular people can’t afford avocado toast.

dukeGR4 ,

stick to low GI carbs perhaps, so it takes extra time to digest!

also, drink water right before a meal. turns out brain is pretty shit at distinguishing thirst and hunger… you also get “full” by drinking water so you end up eating a bit less heh.

ISO dates are the goat because they string compare correctly. Just yesterday I shaved 2 full seconds off a page transition by removing a date parse in the middle of a hot sorting loop. Everything should use ISO in my opinion.

nickwitha_k , (edited )

Maybe we should form some sort of organization, on an international stage, dedicated to creating and maintaining such standards.

Not sure what you are talking about? I did not (yet) pay the 20€ for the ad free version of sync. But I did donate more than double that amount to the lemmy devs. And if my instance would accept donations, I also would have donated there

    RickRussell_CA ,

Same. I support dessamines on Patreon and I’ve dropped donations in several other places.

I’ll pay for Sync again, eventually. But I’ll stick to the ad supported version until it stabilizes.

    While the login system works…

It’s ripe for abuse though. DMs are federated traffic and are not cryptographically secured in any form. So in theory a bad actor instance admin could spawn unlimited accounts and login… Or just sniff incoming requests from whatever instance this traffic is spawned from and obtain the login code.

For something like this, probably fine… But I wouldn’t use it for anything else, nor would I trust any app that does use this system.

I think they meant that too… But that’s not what was provided to login.

one time I was writing some absolute banger code and wanted some pleasing smells. So I lit and candle and POOF fucking Belphegor suddenly appeared before me.

    Hazzia ,

Isn’t Belphegor the king of sloth? That would actually be super relevant for developers.

Belphegor: “Hey guy, you’ve been spending all afternoon trying to implement this feature, but there’s a super niche framework that gets you 80% there. Here’s the github for it.”

Programmer: “Holy shit I was looking for something exactly like this, how did you find it!?”

    Belphegor: “Demon”

    Programmer: “Right”

xavier666 , to linux in What are the main challenges in Linux adoption for New users, and how can it be addressed?
    1. Installation process of Linux is complicated to an average Joe (Bootable USB/ISO file/Boot priority/format <- what are these scary terms?)
    2. Lack of availability of pre-installed Linux PCs at physical shops
    3. Lack of availability of industry-standard software
    4. Confusion for an average Joe due to excess choice of distros/application packaging format. Average people don’t want choices, they want to be guided.
    5. (Minor point) Most available guides for doing something heavily requires terminal usage which can be daunting to new users
