Meh. Whenever my warranty is about to expire I just ride the resale value and upgrade knowing I’ll sell the old one for a hundred bucks less than I paid for it and get a new warranty for the new phone. I get a new phone every two years for basically $200 and someone else buys my used one probably doing the same thing and selling their old one for $100 less than that.
Over a decade I’ve spent one new phone’s worth of dollars for 5 phones.
I understand why someone would say this, it’s just acknowledging your own shortcomings in a way and realizing that you can’t be everything that someone might want. But so what? If someone is willing to do this math with you, then they’re not really appreciative of you as a person. Imperfect is fine, insecure is not.
Yeah I’ve had this conversation but percentages are too hard. I said if it comes down to where they need to tabulate and weigh pros vs cons then I already lost. I don’t want to be in those kinds of games.
Same here. Hyoerland uses too many resources to be worth the effort, but I kinda feel the same with other wms: the default configuration is too basic and ungly, and configuring them take way too much time. I wish there was some kind of easier way to config that up.
I don’t think so. Because in a world of greater ELIGIBILITY, (a world of greater amounts of dateable fuckable people), everyone would be constantly “trading up” on relationships. But the world is NOT full of ELIGIBLE (dateable fuckable) people. Most people are happy if they can find ONE eligible (dateable fuckable) person, so they stick with them.
I know for a fact he meant "legible". I've read a lot of his work and talked a great deal with people in the rationality community, and legible makes perfect sense there.
This is funny until someone you love dies and the pile of cards they gave you throughout your life is one of the things that makes you feel closest to them.
You know, I was once a small child that needed my mother’s care. And she enjoyed giving cards for every occasion. So yes I did get some valentines day cards from her.
They’re also on the USB-IF and co-developed Thunderbolt so even though it’s a great thing for compatibility, all of the issues with it are their fault 😂
