Doesn’t work for me. Pretty much every link either says “This feature is coming soon. We’re currently working on it! Thanks for your patience.”, or it says that it’s not available in my country. :/
I think live sports is really the only reason most people pay for TV anymore. The rest of the content is available online on one of the 3,000 streaming platforms.
Why are people acting like any animal based character is a furry? Did everyone forget about Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry, Cats Don’t Dance, Aristocats, Mickey Mouse, American Tale, The Secret of NIMH, Adventures from the Book of Virtues, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Oliver and Company, Lion King, Bambi, Chester Cheetah, The Great Mouse Detective, the Trix Rabbit, basically anything made for kids, old fables and folktales, etc feel free to add to the list
None of this is new and it reminds me when people were losing their minds over actors playing different characters like it was a new thing
Furries are a community off-shoot of the broader sci-fi fandom that started in the 1970’s, characterized by a fondness for anthropomorphic reprisentation in media. It expanded from it’s sci fi roots into fantasy, alt-historical fiction, slice of life, and yes, porn, because nerds are horny.
Furries is also the term for the characters that are created by the members of the community, and also has been used to describe other characters in other media, but it’s worth noting that not all of these come from furries (the people), though by now nearly all do. The lead character artists for Zootopia and Sing are out furries, for example. And Vivziepop and the Lackadaisy team certainly are furries.
This was like within the first few months of Voat during one of the Reddit exoduses. I was on it for like a week in some meditation communities. Then yeah it pretty quickly turned into Nazi shit. Ruqqus was also Nazi shit.
My username was randomly generated and was 47RX6h. I mostly went on there to argue with right wingers but really I was just wasting my time lol. I got banned from most of the communities on there.
All of this led to me ditching all of those (except YouTube, this is without a real alternative due to the content exclusively hosted there) and starting to self-host my stuff and joining the Fediverse.
To have some sort of viable fediverse alternative to YouTube, the developers of it would have to abandon some of the free software principles that current fediverse platforms uphold. There needs to be a way to monetize to attract creators and get people to host the servers
If it were possible, I’d like to continually donate a given sum of money to an account that split the proceeds between the content creators and the people hosting. Granted, while I’m unemployed, the best I can do currently would be to donate hosting directly
The closest anyone's come to a mechanism that would allow efficient financing of public goods like free software is quadratic funding. Unfortunately, there are unsolved issues with collusion and identity verification
