I still play Wordle daily, but I’m also a big fan of Cell Tower and Worble

r/woodworking would be nice.

r/buttcoin, every time I feel bad about myself I like reading about crypto fails to remind myself that I could have made even worse decisions.
r/noncredibledefense, makes the horror of the war not far from me a bit more bearable

Not meeting up with friends at a loud venue, I like to talk to them not try to shout over the music.

TeaHands , to asklemmy in How has ur lemmy experience been so far?
@TeaHands@lemmy.world avatar

Pretty great tbh. The tricky thing with being an early adopter is you kind of have to be the change you want to see, but I’m old enough to feel no shame about just barging into places and starting new threads as needed.

So far started two accounts on two different instances (I like to keep different subjects somewhat separate) and had really cool interactions on both.

Obviously there are a few UX issues, trying to sub to remote communities is kind of a nightmare, but hopefully I’ve subbed to enough that other people on my instance will find it a bit easier to find them through search.

I don’t want to have a subscription for everything. It used to be possible to pay a one-time fee for software and use it as long as I want. Now I have to pay a monthly fee and once I finish paying, I can’t use the software anymore. And it’s not like I constantly get updates for the software. Often it stays the same for months or years.

I understand that software has a price, but no way these prices are sometimes justified…

yo why this post not pinned?

qjammer , to selfhost in Does it make sense to upgrade my ethernet cables?

What you should be asking is whether the cables qre the bottleneck in your network or not.

Is there any link that is not negotiating 1Gbps? Do you have devices that could push 10Gbps but the cable is not allowing it? If not, then there’s no need to upgrade them.

Unless, of course, if you want to do it just for fun, which is also a legitimate reason 😄

A couple, I think. WoTshow is one I really liked. And exatheist is a tiny sub where a bunch of people who were once atheists of all different religions talk religious philosophy.

I moved across the country to live with someone I was mutuals with on Mastodon, and then became her girlfriend a couple days later. It’s been almost 5 years now and we’re still very happy together! She’s my best friend and the only person that I feel understands me completely, and it still feels unreal that we even met at all.

CannotSleep420 , to asklemmy in Where is the search bar on mobile?

You should see a hamburger menu in the top right of your screen. Click on that, then click on the magnifying glass icon.

lvxferre , to asklemmy in Users from before the current wave of Reddit refugees, how do you feel about the incoming monsoon of refugees?
@lvxferre@lemmy.ml avatar

I’m in Lemmy for, like, two years? Mostly lurking. I’ve been looking for alternatives for longer than that though.

I feel like the monsoon is mostly welcome. Content quality may decrease a bit, but the quantity will make up for it. And quantity is what has been missing IMO.

In special I’m hoping for specialised instances about some subjects that I enjoy. I like the Lemmy instance but stuff like anime and conlanging “feels” off-topic here.
