Do you use a device with open source Android firmware? What device, which distro and what do you do with it? I have a Samsung tablet with LineageOS and apps from F-Droid. Other than displaying dire warnings about the unlocked bootloader every time it cold boots, It’s great for a “recliner system”: email, Web browsing,...
Are there any free/open-source TTS options out there that are on the same level as Google Cloud’s? I tried a lot of free ones, but they are absolutely awful and still sound like my Amiga did 30 years ago. With LLMs being available as open source, I am hoping there’s also a good TTS offering I just haven’t found yet.
I’m fairly new to Fedora, so I don’t know much (yet), I’m still learning....

I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 and keep forgetting names. The database section helps but it can be tedious going back and forth when I’m reading emails and notes to see what is relevant. This isn’t just limited to Cyberpunk though. I feel like I run into this a lot with games. Any tips for getting names to stick?
Yeah, basically that. I’m back at work in Windows land on a Monday morning, and pondering what sadist at Microsoft included these features. It’s not hyperbole to say that the startup repair, and the troubleshooters in settings, have never fixed an issue I’ve encountered with Windows. Not even once. Is this typical?...
I’m new to the container world. Does it have any security benefits when I run my applications as a non-root user in a docker container? And how about Podman? There I’ll run the container as an unprivileged user anyway. Would changing the user in the container achieve anything?
The spotify app keeps getting worse by the week. At this point it won’t load my saved song list at all when I’m offline. While writing this, it just crashed in the background....
Even with a good career and all the “adult milestones” I don’t feel like an actual adult. I feel like I’m pretending to know what I’m doing. Anyone else experience this?
Can you recommend any screen video capture tools compatible with Wayland? I’ll use such a tool on my Raspberry Pi 400 under 64-bit Raspberry Pi OS Bookworm, so I’d prefer one with appropriate Debian binaries....

Hey, so I had a gluetun container running with docker and a NordVPN Wireguard setup. It was working for months and all of a sudden I want to say in October, it just stopped working and I have no way to get my Wireguard info from Nord....
I’ve been seeing all these posts about Linux lately, and looking at them, I can honestly see the appeal. I’d love having so much autonomy over the OS I use, and customize it however I like, even having so many options to choose from when it comes to distros. The only thing holding me back, however, is incompatibility issues....

This question always comes to mind whenever I see people jogging along sidewalks, and wonder. Sidewalks are generally concrete or cement or something, which is definitely harder than dirt, so…
Hi, lets talk about 2in1 laptops and tablets. Which ones are the best for running linux on them, which ones are your favorites right now, what do you like using them for, etc. I find myself really missing having a 2in1 sometimes, especially for the portability aspects of them....
Hey fellas friends. Sorry to create yet another post on this topic (maybe we should have a sticky for this?)....
Hello everyone, I just installed Linux (I’m new to it), in particular Linux Mint, with dual booted Windows for games. Tinkered with it a bit, loved the way it looked, loved how fast it is, but I really don’t want to stop on one option and stick with it for a while. I want to try new stuff, new distros (that’s how you call...
