Cats. Cats are BY FAR the biggest killer of wild birds.

I love cats,and dont advocate getting rid of them. We also shouldnt get rid of high-rises, or wind turbines. Find ways to make them all safer for birds, and encourage birds to procreate more.

That conversation doesn’t make any damn sense. Why would an interviewer ask arithmetic questions to check the ml claim?

xusontha ,

because

kirby ,

this is a conversation from 2047. the Interviewer is checking if they are speaking with an AI/Robot

pfannkuchen_gesicht ,

Excuse my ignorance, but what 2047?

Masimatutu OP ,

I think they’re referring to the year.

pfannkuchen_gesicht ,

oh. I thought he might be referring to a book, movie or game.

ai: I am detecting numbers, create a variable called Numbersdetected.
int (“Numbersdetected” = 0);
Now it has a value of 16.
write (Numbersdetected = “16”);
Somebody wants the value of Numbersdetected.
query (“Numbersdetected”);

Blade runner logic. Ask that exposing question. Get an answer.

It’s basically a joke on how gradient descent works in machine learning.

Porka_911 ,

Why ai would be used on a math operator beats me, but hey ho.

kablammy ,

It would have been more obviously gradient descent if they didnt start with 0, so the first gradient wasn’t the same as the second answer. I thought they were just repeating the last correct answer.

conditional_soup , to aboringdystopia in And somehow it's the turbines that are the problem

High rises aren’t really a problem either. I’d wager that agricultural and pest control practices, automobile traffic, and urban sprawl each individually kill orders of magnitude more birds.

Cqrd ,

By far the biggest killer of birds are cats that people let out of their homes. They kill for fun and they kill so, so many. People really need to stop letting their cats out.

retrolasered ,

I suspect there are enough feral cats for that to make no real difference at all

SpaceMan9000 ,

Depends on where you live, some countries sterilize wild cats which makes a huge dent in the wild cat population.

Up to the point where organizations are importing cats from different countries.

My high rise flats are a problem for that one dumb pigeon that must have been distracted qy some girl pigeons tits or something because it flew straight into the side and died. None of the otheg pigeons have ever done that they may already be in commited relationships

There are female-female USB extension cables. As to why those exist…

XTornado ,

They are good for wifi/bt/radio usb receivers used for keyboard/mouse/gamepads…so they can be in a better place like higher or further.

Stormyfemme ,

Those still need to get plugged in to the device somehow lol

XTornado ,

Yeah… honestly somehow I missed the female-female part 😂 I thought it was male-female.

Well then it’s used in combination with a male male for sure otherwise yeah O don’t see any use unless there is some weird device with male input.

ook_the_librarian ,
@ook_the_librarian@lemmy.world avatar

Or turn 2 extension cords into a long one.

But a serious answer is that these are sometimes sold in a kit of adapters that would let you change the head. Most kits like used a normal cord as the base cord, but some used USB extension cords as the base cord. So this is meant to be a replacement part, not useful in its own right.

I used to have a portable hard drive that had a usb-A/ e-sata hybrid connector and I had to use a USB A to A cable (or e-data) to use it.
