I have a m11 laser printer. I bought the compatible laser cilinder thingy with a tiger and a green box because hp laser ink is double the price.

So far I have no problems with printing. Aside from the fact that hp puts an exclamation after each print with the prompt: DANGER! COUNTERFEIT INK CARTRIDGE InstALLED!

Ok man I’ll be careful so it doesn’t explode. Only because it’s not the proprietary ink…. Hope I didn’t give them any ideas…

IKR? The massive influx of near-zero-friction signups is bound to create a large userbase of new/shiny window shoppers who quickly lose interest. I've got a couple of friends who seem to be attempting to create a presence there, but otherwise it's a terrible feed. Of course it's a terrible feed for me because I've done jack-shit on instagram and the algorithm is just throwing stuff at my wall to see what sticks. I've got ladies with large asses in spandex, some quote-meme spammers, and Jair Bolsonaro filling up my feed - that's just a fucking dumpster fire.

I'll keep the app (properly sandboxed) but I doubt I'll interact with it any more than mastodon or Post - which is monthly at best. I'd say that I dropper Twitter last year, but really I dropped it a decade ago as being useless as both a location for discourse and a source for, well, anything of interest to me.

Honestly, I’m surprised the algorithm doesn’t start with more benign stuff. The best tuned algorithms start with low-controversy popular content, like pictures of cats, then slowly as it learns about the user begins introducing personal interests and rage bait depending on what the user interacts with.

Yeah, that really is pretty surprising. Haven’t used Threads myself since I’m in the EU and I have zero interest in it, but this is pretty normal social media stuff. I’d understand it if Meta was some “two people and a dog” company, but it’s Meta. I figure that a nontrivial amount of corners was cut, considering they couldn’t even launch in the EU

stoly , to technology in Scarlett Johansson denied OpenAI the right to use her voice. They used it anyway.

Nearly 2 years ago we were considering moving to San Francisco and I began to search for jobs. I found one that I was well qualified for and took a deep look at, but backed out because it was full of all this bold-faced language about 40 hours on prem and how remote would never be permitted. The wording really seemed a bit shocking to me and I backed the heck away. It was OpenAI and they tried to fire Altman like a month later. I am so glad that I walked away from that, the whole thing is terrifying.

The farm industry loves their subsidies and will fight hard to keep them coming.

In the US anyway. I’m sure it’s similar in other countries but for ostensible cultural reasons.

Edit: I checked to make sure, this is in the US.

Dairy ain’t going anywhere, it’s legitimately a national security thing for food scarcity (government cheese). It’s still also heavily subsidized of course (as is Corn). Now if that could be swung to a different animal (sheep or goats), that’d have a significant impact environmentally.

    catloaf ,

I don’t see why it has to be government cheese and couldn’t be government rice and beans or government lentils. Put the subsidy dollars into plant foods and it’ll happen.

Iggy Pop’s was especially amusing, and well worth your time.

Damn, hadn’t even heard that he died, though it appears it was just a month ago (Feb. 7). I first found out about him through the game, Redneck Rampage (1997), he was on the soundtrack for it.

Well it says that many companies are spending extremely low amounts, like $10 on ads. So I assume musk has just been giving away ad space to try to keep those accounts open for as long as possible.
