These papers and the people who write them truly are insane. I had the English version of the paper through my door the other week and you would think it’s satire It’s so ridiculous.
These far-right loony circle-jerks would be fascinating if they weren’t so troubling.
I really wonder at what point can people like O’Doherty be declared clinically insane? They clearly struggle with the concept of reality, and they actively testify to that in writing.
A grieving mother and her lawyer have been targeted by an extreme campaign of abuse after suing a conspiracy theory newspaper which falsely claimed her son died from a Covid vaccine.
The campaign of abuse following her legal case has been “nothing short of shocking” and may explain why other relatives have not taken action, Ms Campbell’s solicitor, Ciaran Mulholland, told BBC Radio 4’s Marianna in Conspiracyland podcast.
In frequent social media posts over several weeks, the Irish Light and its editor, Gemma O’Doherty, have accused Ms Campbell of “outrageous lies”, being “mentally unstable” and involved in a “massive fraud”.
He told the BBC the legal proceedings were launched after various attempts to ask Gemma O’Doherty to remove the images of Diego Gilsenan failed and resulted in an escalation in online abuse.
In July, the High Court in Dublin granted a restraining order that prohibits the Irish Light editor from contacting Ms Campbell and from using or publishing the image of her son for any purpose without his mother’s consent.
Manchester Arena bomb survivors are suing over claims the attack was faked and parents of Sandy Hook mass shooting victims won a landmark ruling against Infowars host Alex Jones.
It seems surprising that Russians would want to buy property in the occupation zone, with the war still ongoing. If Ukraine wins, no doubt their property rights will be declared null and they will be sent packing. Why take the risk? My only guess is that they must be so heavily propagandised as to not seriously contemplate the possibility of loss.
Seems like the only way Russia will actually pay for the damages if they think they’ll be keeping it.
It would be quite the win if Ukraine manage to take the territory back even partially rebuilt. We know that Ukraine have a policy of avoiding costly difficult offensive operations into obvious hard points and cities (selecting to go around instead). I imagine, all going well, if they were to find themselves in a position to liberate the Azov coast then they would try and set the conditions for a Kherson style Russian ‘nope’ retreat to avoid an encirclement.
It would also support the Russian propaganda machine when the Ukrainian people repossess their homes and throw the Russians out of homes that they have bought (from people who didn’t own them).
Part propaganda, part opportunist. If you can get property at a fraction of its normal price with the chance that it will be valuable in the future, it might be worth the gamble.
True but that’s been occupied for a lot longer and is also farther away, so it would be easier to feel “secure” there for a propagandised Russian. But places like Mariupol on the other hand, where the war is so close and recent…
“Disputed” it’s not disputed lol, China says it owns all of the South China Sea and no one else agrees, we don’t call my neighbors lawn disputed because I claim it
To be fair it is disputed, it's just that everyone else's claims are significantly less ridiculous than China's. There's a small scrap of sea claimed by all of Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, and China.
