Reading this made me wonder if anyone working the holocaust trains had any moments of reflection as they carted people to slaughter. Maybe some of them could feign ignorance, unlike the “Texas Division of Emergency Management” Officials
Utterly disgusting that people are going along with this farce.
US health officials are investigating the death of a three-year-old Venezuelan girl travelling with her parents on a bus carrying asylum seekers from Texas to Chicago.
Before it left the state, passengers had their temperature assessed and were asked if they had any medical conditions, Texas officials said.
Officials said when it was noticed that the girl’s health appeared to be deteriorating, the bus “pulled over and security personnel on board called 911”.
Republican governor Greg Abbott of Texas has sent more than 30,000 migrants to cities controlled by the Democrats since last year under his “Operation Lone Star” policies.
Last month, the US department of Justice sued Mr Abbott for his refusal to remove a floating barrier placed on the Rio Grande river aimed at stopping migrants from entering the US from Mexico.
The latest tragedy comes weeks after an eight-year-old girl died at a US border patrol site in Texas.
So, bearing in mind I haven’t heard of this case before and am just going on this one article, surely this kid shouldn’t have been in mainstream education and clearly needed some specialist support. But ultimately the parents should be held morally and legally responsible for this, how THE FUCK can you not secure your gun and ammo to keep them out of the hands of your 6 year old. I hope the teacher and the kid get the support they need.
Hail is definitely a summer thing here, storms in general actually - or at least they were before all the constant droughts and heat waves. I actually feel this summer was a lot closer to how I remember them from when I was a kid.
It’s not uncommon in summer but to that extent it is - and my comment only said that it’s not an autumn thing in Germany and I stand by that since it’s usually only happening during summer storms or in winter
In autumn it usually just rains since we don’t have those extreme short storms after a calm day the same way we have in summer and hail only happens with those
No it's projected to go up towards the 30 degrees next week again. Also, the last time I remember having 30 cm snow was a couple decades ago or so. You know, when we also owned sleds and were actually able to use them. I really don't need 30 cm hail though, but I guess the pieces weren't that large at least. I once witnessed a hail storm that had near golf sized ones, which really fucking hurt.
I’d argue that a lot of people are reaping what a much smaller number people have sown. Not to say that we all don’t hold some blame in some part, but some are significantly more to blame than others. An emissions per capita map overlaid with a projected impact from climate change map explains it well.
It's challenging to set who's really responsible for climate change, as we could say someone living in suburbia and driving a SUV, while owning three cars and voting for a party that subsidizes coal has definitely a lot of blame.
However someone who has been born in said situation yet moved to the city, uses public transportation and do their best to reduce their impact can't really be rolled in the mix with it.
Slowly but gradually the earlier will keep dying and fading out while the latter will push towards greener, less impactful approaches, however once that happens it will already be 50 years late.
I very distinctly recall the geography teacher asking the class clown to pronounce it when we were studying it, it went as expected, and she corrected him. She told us it was pronounced n-eye-jer, but it’s also been 30 years.
Wow, you’re not joking. I just checked OP’s posting history and they’re really going at it. I don’t see double posting to any given community, but they do seem to post the same link to a bunch of related communities.
What’s the point though? There’s no karma here, so I’m really not sure what they’re getting out of it.
In their mind they could be increasing the amount of content on Lemmy, as they feel communities aren’t as full as they could be, which isn’t a bad thing.
The issue Ive seen is when a bot poster adds a ton of links at once around the same types of subject and all you see in the feed is their content.
As convicted by a jury of his peers (in a civil case) and confirmed by the presiding judge. Never again should we mention his name without the words “convicted rapist”.
Lots of liberals on here parroting the “should have gotten out when they had the chance” line. In reality, the threat of capital flight is largely a myth. Sure, you can maybe escape with much of your finance capital, but you can’t take the factories and the worker who fill them with you.
It matters because the factories and more specifically, the workers who fill them are the ones creating value. Had they pulled out sooner, the result likely would have been the same, the state taking over management.
While I don’t particularly care about private property being “repossessed” by the state, especially in an oligarchal capitalist state like Russia where it’s not likely to have any large material benefit for the working class, its just funny that liberals throw stuff like this around without any analysis of the situation.
What this pretty much guarantees is that once the sanctions are lifted, no company is going to want to reinvest in any new factories there. You only get to seize the factories once.
lol are you absolutely sure about it? it was a pretty common occurence in 90s in eastern europe.
step 1. foreign (generally western) company or investment fund or something buys a factory for peanuts. corruption might be involved.
step 2. that entity rolls up entire shop, sells equipment for whoever would buy it, and people get suddenly unemployed. this even happened to steelworks and shipyards
