Venezuelans are fleeing the conditions that US sanctions created. The whole region has been destabilized by your murderous regime, and now its putting people who are fleeing the conditions your fascist government created are being put into concentration camps.

Anybody who actually wants to know why Latin America is the way it is today need to read Killing Hope to understand the kinds of crimes against humanity US regime has been committing there.

Last I checked, Russian economy is doing better than pretty much any western economy right now. Of course, if the goal of the sanctions was to destroy Europe’s industry and to make it dependent on US, then the sanctions worked spectacularly.

@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

We’re already seeing things moving in that direction right now. There is tons of employee monitoring software. Companies use key loggers, video surveillance, attention tracking, and so on. Then there’s a recent case of a woman being ordered to reimburse former employer for ‘time theft’ based on the monitoring software.

So, the idea that companies would start forcing people to wear brainwave monitoring helmets to track whether they’re focused on work or not isn’t as far fetched as you seem to think.

Closer interoperability would likely be a net positive. Since there is an impedance mismatch here, taking the first sentence seems like a reasonable way to address it. As others mentioned, users can intentionally write the first sentence as a title when posting. Since the workaround would be configurable per instance/community I don’t think low quality titles are too much of a concern.

Seems too soon to claim that, we don’t know what’s in those labs and this will come out after the conflict is over.

Ukraine isn’t a sovereign state, it’s a puppet régime run by US.

These were bioweapons labs left over from USSR days, and US didn’t take over these labs for any sort of altruistic purpose.

Organizations like CIA have a long history of pursuing precisely these kinds of insane ideas.

I just love how western media keeps talking up some sort of a collapse in China every few months, and people still fall for it. Like the last 1000 times turned out to be nonsense, but this time for sure!

It really shows how a lot of people in the west have a deep seated hate of China that’s been bred into them by the media, and aren’t able to even think about the subject critically.

yogthos OP , to technology in China’s AI-driven power grid can recover from a blackout in 3 seconds
@yogthos@lemmy.ml avatar

Yeah that’s a good point, if you have lots of disparate systems that don’t have standard coding then the codes wouldn’t be of much use. I can see how standardizing that sort of things would be a huge effort, so in that context the approach makes sense.

I also assume that the humans have the final say, but in most cases I imagine having the computer do the initial routing will get better results than doing nothing at all while humans figure out what the overall picture is.

Yeah, you’d think if they have the codes those should be more reliable than free text descriptions. I don’t see a scenario where you’d want to do natural language processing instead of just relying on the code to figure out what to do.
