Although worth noting that the problem is worse for places that aren’t prepared for heat spikes. For example, a lot of Europe lacks air conditioning and the grid wouldn’t be able to support such a huge energy increase if everyone got an AC. Places that regularly deal with heat waves are in a better position to cope going forward I suspect.

Not only that, but AC units need power and grids can’t handle such surges in most places. We already saw how the grid in Texas failed to cope with peak demand last year.

You can run models locally nowadays on fairly modest harware. I use GPT4all and it works great github.com/nomic-ai/gpt4all

Nah, I just know a lot better than you do because I’m not the one pretending that the regime in Ukraine represents the people there. The democratically elected government that represented the people in Ukraine was overthrown back in 2014 in a violent coup backed by the west. Ukraine is literally a product of the west “spreading democracy”.

Let’s take a look at a few slides from this lecture that Mearsheimer gave back in 2015 to get a bit of background on the subject. Mearsheimer is certainly not pro Russian in any sense, and a proponent of US global hegemony. First, here’s the demographic breakdown of Ukraine:

As we can clearly see from the voting patterns in both elections, the country is divided exactly across the current line of conflict. Furthermore, a survey conducted in 2015 further shows that there is a sharp division between people of eastern and western Ukraine on which economic bloc they would rather belong to:

Ukraine is clearly not some homogeneous blob, but a large country with complex cultural and ethnic situations.

And of course, let’s not forget how the regime the west installed in Ukraine has been abusing people of Donbas, there’s even a whole French documentary on the subject

I’ve found them to be helpful in that regard. I find it’s really helpful when I want to express some concept and I can feed my half baked idea to a chat bot, and it can expand on it, and that helps me flesh out the idea more.

US very clearly sees China as its mains competitor, and it will be all too happy to leave Europe holding the bag with the Ukraine debacle. The fact that Nuland just got dismissed and replaced with a China hawk is a pretty clear sign of things to come. Europe is entirely dependent on US both militarily and economically now, and if US quit NATO then Europe would still be just as dependent on US as before. Military industry will keep selling weapons to Europe, but there won’t be any more obligations on the part of US allowing the neocons to focus on trying to provoke a war with China.

If you ever actually tried using these tools you’d realize that what you’re saying is complete and utter nonsense. The workflows for generating stuff with AI tools are already getting very complex. This technology isn’t magic, it’s just a different way to produce art where the tool takes care of the mechanical aspects. A human is still very much needed to direct what’s actually produced.
